The Boone County Rebels stormed into the Ninth Region girls' basketball tournament semifinals with a 54-37 victory against Ludlow Tuesday at The Bank of Kentucky Center.

Jacy Bradley scored a game-high 21 points and Heather Sandlin drilled three 3-pointers on the way to scoring 13 points for the Rebels, who are ranked third in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll.

Boone County (22-6) next will play second-ranked Highlands at 8 p.m. Friday in a rematch. The Bluebirds defeated the Rebels 54-43 on Jan. 13.

"I'm looking forward to it," Boone coach Nell Fookes said of the matchup. "And I'm sure they are, too."

For Ludlow, Tuesday was the end of an era. The Panthers are losing the five seniors that helped transform the program into a consistent winner.

"Those five girls put us on the map," Ludlow coach Aaron Stamm said. "They are incredible kids, both on and off the court, and we'll never be able to replace them."

One of those seniors, Ashley Daugherty, led the team with 17 points in her final game for Ludlow.

"It was behind her that we got this thing built, but she's just part of a remarkable senior class," Stamm said. "They changed everything for us. We used to be terrible, but our seniors led us to four straight (Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Division III) championships, four straight winning seasons and our third regional tournament in a row.".........
