Despite the fact they were primarily comprised of freshmen and sophomores, the Boone County High School girls' soccer team had a solid 12-5-2 record last year.

The two seniors on the team, midfielders Kaitlin McCulloch and Sydney Nields, were a big leadership factor for the young team.
Both seniors recently committed to play for Hanover (Ind.), an NCAA Division III school. The school celebrated McCulloch's commitment Feb. 13 and will have a signing for Nields in the near future.
"It's very exciting," McCulloch said. "I'm something I've dreamed about. It's a small college. The soccer program is really good and the academics are really good."
McCulloch, a Florence resident, plans to major in biology/pre-med.
She was first-team, all-region and honorable mention, all-state last year, helping a defense that allowed just 16 goals all season.
"She's very intelligent and respectful," Boone head coach Mike Hughes said. "Every kid truly respected her as a captain. She ran our team camps in the summer and helped with the freshman team."
Hughes said McCulloch willingly switched to midfield when he moved her from the back line two years ago.
"I'll miss all my friends, the whole atmosphere," she said.
