Finally. This has been a long time coming. It's about time that Pikeville College hire someone from this region. If they want people to come to watch their games, then they need boys from around here.

Seen this coming from a mile away. 1-10 doesn't get it done.

This has been long overdue. Can't wait to see who they hire. I would like to see Holcomb or Hillard Howard.

Good now maybe they can get some more local players and not every one from the carolinas.

The Pikeville Police Dept. will have to lay off a few guys over this move...

The football team has some good "athletes," and what few times I saw them this year, they were playing out of position and the play calling was very questionable. I don't know Bryan as a person, or that well as a coach, but it's as if he wasn't sure how to play what he had. They have some talented players at some key positions. Hopefully the next guy can build around them.

Could this be the end of the program at Pikeville College?

If Pikeville got all local players 1-10 would be an accomplishment.

There is enough talent within a 100 mile radius to fill a competetive team and fill the stands. Be realistic, no one wants to come watch a bunch of kids from SC and GA get beat and sulk and fight with one another. I liked Mac as a person, great guy...but as a coach not so much. You don't win throwing screens every play and running a dive on 3rd and a mile. I say bring back Jerry Mynatt, he got a lot of the good local kids that Bryan passed up on and atleast won. If not him, I would like to see a good coach from EKY take the position that has a proven record...Howard, Holcomb, Hilton, Matney, etc.

I've heard they are going to move the assistant coach to head coach. Like Bryan he is a nice guy, but obviously he didn't have the answers neither. I don't think you can recruit all local kids and compete. But the big issue is they don't even go after the kids around here who can compete.

I agree with Irish. There are good enough players within a 100 mile radius that Pikeville College could have a year in, year out MSC contender. Kids from ALL over EKY, Kids from Virginia, West Virginia, they could even go a few miles beyond the 100 mile radius and get some kids from Ohio (Ironton, Portsmouth), get kids from the Boyd and Greenup County area (Russell, Ashland, Raceland etc.) Not only that, the bleachers would be FULL every saturday for the games. Not only get a local coach, find a local guy to do the recruiting.

I would love to see Hilliard Howard take the coaching job here, they'd be smart to at least offer it to him, he'd be thrilled to coach again at the field. Hilliard would bring a hard nose in with him, and would get more decent players here. Pikeville College has kicked out about 20 players after the past semester, there's only about 40 players still here, and they're supposed to bring in 40 more this off season, I guess we'll see how that goes.

They've got Tyler Cable and Blake Johnson. Blake starts and Cable saw playing time every game this past season.

I think they could hire some coaches from the high school level where they would at least be connections...

IMO I just dont see Hillard taking it. Hes had opportunities in the past to coach college ball, including at Pikeville College, and has always turned them down. I dont see him taking that job now as he winds down toward the end of his career. But with Hillard you never know.

I really wish they would steal Heywood away from Belfry!

Haywood would never leave Belfry, and I think that his health would also keep him from getting the job. He is a GREAT coach though.
