I know it has been discussed before, but I can't believe no one has ever tried to put it together. In recent memory, year after year these two are the best regions (as a whole) in the state. Who wouldn't enjoy seeing these two go at it with so many teams that are worthy of the Sweet 16, but just never get the chance.
My proposal:
Location
If you want a neutral court, play it in Frankfort at the Civic Center. Halfway between the two, nice venue, plenty of seating.
If not, alternate it between Louisville and Lex...maybe at Memorial in Lex and Lou. Gardens/Freedom Hall in Louisville.
Format
Play it as a tournament and match teams up by seeding each region...say top 4 or 6 teams in each.
To avoid playing to many games it could be played as a one game showcase with the seeds from each matched up against each other evenly.
Time
You would have to fit it in after the established holiday tournaments, not interfere with the LIT, or Toyota Classic and you couldn't have it too early in the season. Personally I like the end of Jan. beginning of Feb. as a good time. Nice tough game to get the teams into regional and state tourney mode.
Hypothetical Matchups
Eastern-Scott Co.
J'Town-Bryan Station
Ballard-Lex Cath
Seneca-Paul Dunbar
Male-Madison Central
Trinity-Franklin Co.
Manual-Henry Clay
I don't know about you, but I would pay to see those games.

I think that it's a great idea! Would be a ton of talent in this event, that would attract a lot of scouts.
