Is there a 6th grade state tourney??

Hope so, can't wait to see this team we have all read so much about. Do you think they will be the favorites? Can they live up to all the hype that has been bestowed upon them on this board? It will be interesting.

I am guessing that you are talking about Russell. They are an average 6th grade team. Elliot is hands down the best 6th grade team in the 16th region. We have played them, and they are a mirror image of their high school team. Russell might stay within 20 of them. The Elliot kids really understand how to play the game of basketball, but then again we all might be that good if we just played basketball all year round.

You said that you have played them, and beat them correct. Russell said they have not lost this year. So are they average or as good as they say they are?

So Raceland beat Elliot at Raceland????? We beat Raceland and will prolly play them today at Boyd..... So we will see how we fair.

Yes we are an average team... and we will keep it at that....

Raceland did not beat Elliot. We played them twice in the West Carter Tourney. Once in the Quarter finals and once in the Finals. Everybody that played them got beat by at least 50. Raceland stayed within 20 of them. I'm not knocking Russell by saying they are an average team. Compared to Elliot We are all average teams. They would crush any of us around here. It's not that they have better athletes its that their kids play basketball year round and understand how to play the game better than any of us. When you see Elliot before the game starts you say to yourself "We can beat these guys". Then the game starts and you quickly understand why they are so good. We all can stay close to each other around here in any given game, It's different with Elliot.

Russell is not average they are a lot better than average. I would say that an average 6th grade team would score between 20 and 30 points a game, playing 5 min. quarters. Now I do not know this for sure but I would quess that Russell is in the 40 points + per game average. Funny how people say the same thing about Lawrence County that you said about Elliot Co. Until they play us. Lawrence County is not looking to beat somebody by 30 points we do not run up the score. We have played a couple times this year were they normal starting 5 did not even get in the game.

We are going to have a tournament at Raceland in Feb. I am going to do my best to get Elliot 6th grade there. I want Lawrence and Russell there too. I am trying to get the best teams in our area together for a tournament. Raceland will probably be the weakest team in it. I think this could be the best tournament of the year if we can get everybody there. We are going to talk to the school tomorrow about a date that we can get the gym.
