Kentucky Coaches 3A District 7 Player of the Year
#1
Drew Abrams was selected the Kentucky Football coaches 3A Player of the Year. He will be honored at halftime of the 3A Championship Game at Papa Johns Stadium. The Game will be at 3pm. Congratulations Drew, that is a real honor. He had an outstanding season, even though the season didn't turn out like he expected. It was an honor to play with him ever since I was on his dads team back in middle school. Good job Drew!:devilflam :devilflam :devilflam

Congrats to a very hard runner! Means he beat out D-1 committs Ridge Wilson and Mister Cobble as well.

I find it funny that the Thompson kid from Mason County is somehow a finalist for Mr. Football and he wasn't even the best player in his district!

What school did he play for? Stats, Position, Win/Loss Record, Future Plans?

That is very good considering the schedule. Not many cupcakes on the Russell schedule. That is a big help playing a respectable schedule when it comes to players of the year.

Thompson is a heck of a player. I am suprised though that he is a finalist for Mr. Football.

This is perhaps the best news regarding Russell football that I have heard this football season. He deserves the honor and recognition more than anyone. He ran hard on the field and worked hard off the field all season. I hope he gets a chance to play in college somewhere. Congratulations Drew!
#12
Can someone provide a list of the finalists?
#13
How Channing Fugate wasn't 3A player of the year, I'll never know.
#14
Well it took 13 posts before someone questioned the choice.

Abrams is a great football player, no question about it. However, this award was just a District 7 award, not statewide in 3A.

The Kentucky Football Coaches Association awards coach and player of the year awards for each district in each class, but not an overall winner from each class.

Here is a link to this year's winners. http://www.kfca.info/winners.htm

Thanks

Congratulations to all of the district winners.

Will they be recognized at the state game and will they be there if so?
#22
Shouldn't the thread title be changed to "3A-District 7 Player of the Year."

By the way, that may be the district Russell is in, but I really just meant to give an example.

Midee1 Wrote:Will they be recognized at the state game and will they be there if so?
Sure they will be recognized, They won the same award as everyone else on the list.

But they probably won't be on the field at that time because they will be in the locker room preparing for the 2nd half. Big Grin Smile

I wasn't looking for a serious debate, just responding in fun to DevilsWin's challenge to "Top That Belfry"

This is a very nice award and a great honor for the young men receiving it, but it doesn't always mean the same thing for teams in different districts in different years. Because they play in different districts, I'm not sure that a fair comparison of Russell's and Belfry's winners really can be made. I'm not up to that anyway, I just want to enjoy the rest of my day.

Counting your chickens before they hatch?

I think the Bobcats have something to say about that.
