Congrats Lady Cards..I really think that this team will make some noise in the 15th Region this year.

Congrats to Coach Rice and the Lady Cards for getting the season opening win without Carla Booth. The whole team played well and playing the pressure defense and uptemp offense is fun to watch.:bball:

I don't think they Lady Pirates have any faithful anymore. HaHa!

I heard that Belfry was holding their own, the were only down by three at the beginning of the fourth quarter, until the referees step in and took over.
From what I heard through the grapevine the refs. might as well had a Lady Cardinals jersey on. lol.

First of all, congratulations Lady Cardinals. I heard they were young, big, aggressive and went approximately 10 deep. Secondly, I have not heard anyone complain about the officiating (if the officiating was bad, I would have heard it). I have, however, heard that Rice out-coached Stiltner. SC dribbled out approximately half of the second half while Belfry sat back in a 1-3-1 and Stiltner telling them to not come out after the ball. When Belfry actually played defense they could make runs at SC. Belfry played well in spurts. Belfry is young with one senior and no juniors on the team with Pruitt and Whitt transferring, Thacker and Staten choosing not to play for Stiltner.

Oh, I agree. I didn't mean for it to sound like I was faulting or bad-mouthing the girls for transferring or not playing.

This Belfry team has a lot of potential, even though they are young. This is basically the team that Keith May went undefeated in Pike Co and the Mountain Conference with and lost by 1 or 2 points to Lexington Beaumont in the Elite 8 of the state tournament.

Belfry may be young but they are still a good team and in a couple of years will be a team to reckon with

SC played well, especially being without Booth. They had a good lead until Belfry made a bit of a comeback in the 3rd. Newsome handled the ball well without Booth being there. The team is young and they're going to be a force to reckon with. I can't remember what number, but Belfry has a pretty good looking player. She shoots very well, hit a couple of 3's.

How fair is it that SCHS has players on there team that doesnt even live in Martin County . I am not falting the girls but its not fair if everybody else cant do it

Hope Carla is feeling better she is a great kid. My daughter played AAU with her for a couple of years and they became good friends. Very nice parents also. Good luck to her the rest of the year.

Congrats SC

Maybe so but all of the girls had a bad year. Guess it just goes to show you who the dedicated ball players really are.

Sometimes good players need to leave for them and the program they left to get better.
I am glad they got eligible to play, but they were not Belfry type players.

good game....nice win cards

There's some young talent but focus is way to much on the term "8th graders" , what about upperclassman that has paid their dues over and over and they get "Over" looked! Come to watch high school game not middle school game! Granted, playing time and experience is good but not to be "leaders" of a team or them to get constant recognition and when they can't perform at that level against competitive teams. All that can be said is what comes around goes around.
