WYMT has Pikeville ranked 5th in Region 4...they better get the offense clicking soon. South Laurel, Leslie County, and Hazard are all too high IMO and Johnson Central is to low.
#10
congrats to paintsville gettin in too

I agree with you except with South Laurel. They beat Johnson Central. We'll find out how good Paintsville is this coming Thursday against JCHS.

Paintsville should be rated higher than Hazard. PHS beat P-burg 42-21 and Hazard beat P-burg 16-14 and according to P-burg fans, P-burg played a lot better against Paintsville. I guess that debate will be settled in 3 weeks.

I think Hazard was too high also. Johnson Central is a top 5 team without a doubt. I'd put money on them against anyone in the Mt's with the exception of 2 (Rock, Bell) and another game this Thursday My top 10 would go...
Rockcastle Co.
Bell Co.
Johnson Central
Belfry
Leslie Co.
South Laurel
Lynn Camp
Paintsville
Somerset
Pikeville (maybe Hazard, but give it to Pikeville for strength of schedule on their 2 losses)

ya really..

Sounds like someone at WYMT doesn't like the Panthers.

How can you put Hazard in front of Pikeville?
#15
Does Hazard have a better record?? And have they gotten blown out in their losse(s) if they have one?
#16
I Dont think Paintsville will be in after this week, and JC will be 3rd after they roll out of Paintsville with the BIG WIN and BLUME might make a name for his self during this game.....How many people are they expecting to attend this apple bowl?
#17
They are already in Paintsville...that's where their school is located. So they actually won't be rolling out...but I understand it's a figure of speach. Usually when these two teams face off there are around 7-8,000 people.
#18
Yes I am aware of the situation JKWON.....Thanks for letting everyone else know.....7-8000? well last year the Belfry Prestonsburg game shoudl of been called the apple bowl 2 they had well over that many some said close to 10000.........I have never been to an apple bowl, been to apple days but not an apple bowl.....

Rockcastle County is not the top team in the mountains... IMO that honor right now would go to Bell County.

Johnson Central deserves to be ranked higher than they are.

South Laurel is better than Rockcastle IMO.

Belfry is clearly the top 2A team in the mountains.

1. Bell County
2. Johnson Central
3. South Laurel
4. Belfry
5. Rockcastle County
6. Leslie County
7. Hazard (until they lose)
8. Paintsville (until they lose)
9. Southwestern
10. Lynn Camp

Something to think about:

when comparing Belfry and Bell County consider this:

Bell County has lost twice... two blowouts... one to a Knoxville Central team and the other to Henry Clay.

Belfry has lost one game, that was a blowout to Henry Clay.

The Devils beat both teams by a similar ammount, both were within the first weeks of the season.

Bell County's wins have been over a first year program in LCC (2-4), a way down Corbin (1-5), and their lone quality win vs. 2A Leslie County (5-1).

Belfry has blownout a pair of lowly teams in East Ridge (1-3) and Magoffin County (1-5), beat a middle of the road 3A Lawrence County (2-3) team and a quality ranked 1A Pikeville (4-2) team in a blowout.

Belfry has not lost to a mountain team since 2002 when they fell to eventual state champion Breathitt in the Regional finals 19-0,, in a game that was 6-0 until the final two minutes.

Since the 2002 season Belfry is a remarkable 33-2 against moutain teams..... both losees were in 2002 when they were defeated by Lawrence County and Breathitt. Included in these 33 victories are wins agianst perennial powerhouses Lawrence County, Breathitt County, Middlesboro, Prestonsburg, and Pikeville.

The past two seasons Belfry has finished the year as the #1 team in the mountain top 10.

Just something for you all to think about as the season wears on and we wonder who the best team in the mountains is....
#21
So are you saying they will be back at #1 by the end of the season or they should be right now?
#22
Not saying anything...just giving people some information to work with...
#23
Not saying you were wrong Smile

Just wondering what you meant by it....but just throwing it out there :thumb:
