estill has alot of talent, but magoffin is uong also....but i dont understand ehy estill's coach was tryin to put up another touchdown when they had the game won and late in the 4th quarter. The starters didnt get subbed out till like 2:30 left in the 4th.

i dont know but Estills head coach showed no sportsmanship.. When your leading 56-14, you dont keep some of your starters in, and try to punch in another TD. Thats just not right. I know Coach McCoy wasnt happy with the lack of coaching courtesy recieved from Estill. Good game to both teams, and i hope everyone from Magoffin Co. gets over their injuries. And good luck to both teams in the post season.

Estill JV played the last 7 or 8 minutes of the 4th Quarter. Should they have been told not to play hard. I THINK NOT!!!! Last time I checked it is up to the defense to stop the other teams offense. The player that scored the touchdown (#25) that was called back for a penalty is a freshman. What else can a coach do?

Estills JV was filtered in on offense at the very begining of 4th quarter and the whole JV was put in around 9 minutes. The D was mixed in with JV players until about 6 or 7 minutes to go. They just couldnt stop the JV. I know this for a fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The junior varsity began being sprinkled in a few minutes into the 4th, and the j.v. ran nothing but the base plays of the offense. Magoffin's varsity never came out of the game, so the 4th was Estill's J.V. and Magoffin's Varisty, that's a pretty reasonable scenario, I've never seen anything but sportsmanship from Coach Jones, tonight was no different. When it comes down to it it's the other teams job to stop their opponents from scoring, Estill wasn't trying anything tricky, don't really see what the big deal is.

Coach Jones has always been good about subbing out in such situations. They are not that far removed from being on the other end of lop sided games themselves, and he tries not to let that happen. The varsity backfield did not play a down in the 4th quarter and the JV (entirely) played about 10-11 minutes of the 4th. Magoffin left their starters in. Coach Jones would never intentionally intend to do such a thing. Apologies to the Hornet faithful, (but these guys on the field for Estill consisted of 7 freshmen and 4 sophomores) Magoffin County has a fine group of young men, a great coaching staff and good luck with their remaining game and also best of luck in the playoffs.

Maybe coach mccoy should have taken out his starters. Maybe he should have stopped blitzing. No ill will intended I'm sure on the part of estill.

Well, I think anyone can check the film and see for sure when the varsity came out for Estill. Some of the folks on here that was saying it was at the beginning of the 4th is dead wrong. And for the record, Magoffin was subbing kids in the 4th as well both offensively and defensively. I think what upset Magoffin fans was the fact that Estil was basically in a hurry up mode at the end of the 4th. However, they do have a point, it is Magoffin's job to stop them. So with that I say, what goes around comes around.
Estill is a very good ball club. All their starters offensively and defensively were super strong and physical. Magoffin did expoloit some weaknesses in the Estill D though throughout the game. If anyone can stretch the field and throw on them, they will be in trouble. Magoffin also controlled the tempo against Estill on several possessions by going no huddle and mixing it up. Magoffins biggest problem right now is youth. As they grow and get bigger, stronger and faster, they will continue to get better. Coach McCoy is doing a great job with these young Hornets.
This should be a very competitive district game next year.

What developments between these two good teams this season brings you to this conclusion?

Their team is just to young this year. Their O and D consists of mostly Sophomores and Juniors. Give them time this off-season and everyone will be in for a treat when next season rolls around. I mean, there were times in the game Friday night whenever Magoffins offense was out playing Estills defense and moving the ball down the field. Magoffins not losing any of their backfield, and only 2 offensive lineman. Its going to be an amazing year for the Hornets next year.

You must be watching some games other than the ones that I have watched them play then. When I have seen them, they have tried to get as many yards as they can rushing so they can pat themselves on the back about that wonderful California offense.

No development makes me think this, but the reality that Breathitt dropped three TD passes makes me think it.

Once again, those dropped passes were on the same drive. Would not have made a 3 TD difference in that game.

OMG!!!... You guys lost to a better team.. period... The starters were pulled early in the 4th quarter, and actually more subbing of jv players earlier in the game than normal. We even attempted a 3 point field goal late in the half when we could have scored another touchdown.. Coach Jones gave the Hornets every opportunity to try to stop our kids. I promise our jv players aren't going to lay down or another teams varsity just to make them feel better. It's the defense's job to stop them. I almost thought I was reading a racing forum because of all the crying.. It's football people.. man up!!!

I would talk trash about next season to if my team got thumped by 42 points.

If wee were trying to pat ourself on the back by padding our stats we would have put up alot more on Berea and would not have put the whole JV in the 2nd quarter against Phelps. So nobody are trying to run up any stats.

Magoffin will not beat Estill, Breathitt or Powell in the new district.

It appears that you all could benefit from the "california" offense instead of running 3-4 different types that produce nothing.
