Prestonsburg 13 - Shelby Valley 12
#1
Honestly, Prestonsburg should not have won, but I guess you have games like this.
#2
Final.
#3
Shelby Valley's defense gave Pburg major problems.
#4
Wow I was hoping that shelby valley would have won but I guess pburg is a better team!!!
#5
P-burg's offense gave P-burg major problems. Now I wasn't at the game, but by listening to it, multiple times I heard the announcers say through the hands of the receiver, or this pass was underthrown or overthrown. Valley played one heck of a game and I give them credit, but if this game was played again on a different night, I'm going to say it doesn't turn out like this.
#6
Give Prestonsburg credit for converting 3 4th down plays on their last drive...
#7
Pburg's running backs had a very difficult time getting yards after first contact.
#8
Valley recently has gave the Blackcats all they can handle, but this is I can say was way to close for me.

I agree. P-burg's O-line was non-existent tonight. This is good for Prestonsburg though right before the playoffs. Maybe will make them realize you can't look over any team no matter how weak they are. They play the game for a reason.
#10
The inability of SV to convert extra points looms large.

That's a nice back handed putdown. Just accept the fact that the all mighty Blackcats struggled to beat a mediocre team.

They did and it happens. But like all good teams, they found a way to win. And it's not a putdown, its a fact.

What is a fact? That Shelby Valley is a "weak" team?
#14
Sounds like one h3ll of a football game..

Yes. Listen I gave them credit. They fought their tails off and caught Prestonsburg unprepared and just about beat them. Thats what it takes for a team like SV to knock off a powerhouse team. Upsets happen all the time and there should have been one tonight, but luckily, Prestonsburg capitalized on their final opportunity.
#16
The truth is that the "powerhouse" Prestonsburg was 0:27 away from losing to the "weak" Shelby Valley team, and it was due to more than Prestonsburg not being prepared. Honestly, there is just not as much of a difference in this year's Shelby Valley and Pburg teams as you would like there to be.

Prestonsburg is a better team and did what they had to do tonight to win...

Great game.. PBurg's numerous turnovers really hurt them. Shelby Valley's defense played very well. They pursued well and made good plays. Valley's offense just could get anything going in the 2nd half. It was 6-0 in Valley's favor and then 12-0 after a Valley INT for a touchdown.

Pburg's offense began to build steam and was moving the ball well in spurts...

Shelby Valley's defense was flyin all over and making some great plays.
Burchett's pass in the corner of the endzone with 30 seconds left in the game on 4th and 8 was simply amazing as was the catch.....If that pass is any higher or lower it would incomplete and Valley would be celebrating.....

1. Pburg is the better team (numerous turnovers and still found a way to win)

2. Shelby Valley played like champions (offense stuttered in 2nd half)

3. Miraculous play won the game for Pburg....
#18
4.)P-Burg isn't what everyone thinks they are....But a win is a win is a win..Congrats!

Valley's defense is Pburg's kryptonite.......SPEED, they swarmed to the ball....between the tackle plays were most effective...
#20
Valley Men keep your heads high and use this to find a way back for a rematch later down the road.
#21
now i think we can put the prestonsburg could be belfry talk to rest.. belfry could easily handle prestonsburg.. and i must say.. there is no way this years prestonsburg team is even on the level of the 01, 02, 03, & 04 blackcat teams.. bad night or good night.. they are on the road to getting better.. but some blackcat fans are getting too far ahead..
#22
Sounds like everyone that was there got to see a great game!!

I'm a Pburg fan and former player...... I 100% agree with you.

Prestonsburg is still down from those years. Although they are closer to those levels than they have been

Very nice analysis. The catch in the endzone was spectacular. The Wildcats played like I knew they could and it was one awesome game to watch. If you were there, even if you're a P-Burg fan, you have to give Valley credit for playing one heck of a game.

Surprise! But a win is a win.

My comments:

(1) P-burg should have lost this game just for allowing it to be so close.
(2) P-burg is very good on most nights, but not close to the level of past teams.
(3) P-burg could not compete with JC or Belfry this year.
(4) P-burg is a good Class 2A EKY team, but won't go very far in the playoffs this year.
(5) P-burg is getting better each year and may get back to their early 2000's level.
(6) SV's football program is improving, but not near to the level as many of their fans will think after this game.

Best of luck in the playoffs!

They came to win a district championship, and played like their pants were on fire... Pburg's defense stiffened up and Valley's O didnt respond....valley's defense played really well and was impressive.

I don't know who they return.....but don't bet against Shelby Valley next year in any district game....
#28
Prestonsburg, Overated? But like everyone else has said. A win is a win. Congrats!

Great effort from SV.

All agreed......The returning numbers for Pburg aren't great.....not alot of major contributors returning next year.... As bad as I hate to say it, this may be the best team Pburg will field within at least the next 3-4 years.

I hope I am wrong though.

This game film is going to be P-Burg's kryptonite now. Wonder how much Corbin would want for it?....
