Ashland will be looking for their first win against Ironton since 1990, Ashland and Ironton both enter the game with one loss. I have a good feeling about this game for the first time in a long time. This team will not be intimidated by Ironton, and I think its a big advantage playing at Putnam Stadium. We have a defense that can control anyone, our first team D has allowed only 3 touchdowns this season. GO TOMCATS!

Absolutely. Freeman looked great on PAT's, and Kepler sent one into the endzone, and all the other kicks went inside the 5.

Sorry Tomcat fans..even in an Ironton down year (by their normal standards) they will still continue the dominance over Ashland...just not as lopsided as usual

what are you tryin to say? Ashland this year is a whole different team from last year. The D is playing better then what they where doin last yr and the O is showin what they are capable of. so i still stand next to ashland get em cats.
09-18-2005, 05:39 PM
What I am trying to say is exactly what you read... that I think Ashland will not be able to beat Ironton just as in the past 6-7 years. I do feel it will be closer than most years.. but just think the Tigers are too formimable of a task for the Tomcats to handle.
09-18-2005, 06:39 PM
I do not think so thats what the fans from portsmith west thought, is that ashland is a force to handle but they have the good ole running game to attack with but ashlands D shut it down as well as with the pass. And I think if they come out with a good week of practice and video then they will come out with the same fire that they have been playin with for two weeks now.

I think the boys in maroon can pull it off. Today iam lucky to have a day off and can watch some of their practice and I am sayin that today will be a fresh start a new practice and the tomcats will be lookin spiffy today. But I think ashland is better inshape this year then ironton I heard this year ronton does not even want to run to the ball and all the good stuff.

I'll be doing everything in my power to will a Tomcat victory Friday night in Putnam Stadium. It was 15 years between our last 2 state titles and it's been 15 years since our last one. Lewis has not played nearly to his potential this season. His shoulder was dinged up in pre-season. Ironton beat a very good Wheelersburg team 7-6 with a slight assistance from some shady yellow flags. They were only leading a South Point team 14-7 at half-time before pulling away to a much more convincing win. The same South Point team that beat Greenup County in a squeaker 29-26. I do expect to see the year's best performance from Ironton through this point in the season this week, but they have not looked like the overpowering machine people have accustomed them to for the last few years. If Ironton gets off to a slow start and allows Ashland to stay in the game through half-time with a narrow margin or even possibly a lead, it will give the Tomcat players all the confidence they need to know they have a chance to make recent history. With that said, I believe it will be the addition of JD Kepler and Preston Freeman that will present the winning opportunity for Ashland.
Ashland - 23
Ironton - 21
Ashland's Freeman will kick a field goal very late in the game while losing 21-20 after having an extra point blocked early in the game to pull off a victory for the Tomcats.
