No surprise here. Good job Belfry. Maybe next year Pikeville.
#3
Congratulations Pirates! 5-0
#4
Why didn't Harmon play?
#5
This should seem like a moral victory for Pikeville. Congrats to Belfry, better luck next year Pikeville.
#6

According to his mother, both legs or knees are banged up...He may could have played, but no need to risk it. I hate it though cause he is one tough RB and i love watching him play.

It really is a combination of things. Pikeville is not very deep or good. They are extremely young and very banged up.

Belfry dominated from the start and made only one major mistake: a fumble at the Pikeville 5. Belfry punted only once and they played their freshman QB at the end of the 3rd quarter until the end of the game. Only the mercy of Coach Haywood kept this from being a lot worse. It was like a boxing match and your opponent has to fight with one arm tied behind his back. Lee and Varney were solid and Charlie Dotson was the player of the game. The game was really boring for the most part. I hate it that Tyler Baker got hurt and i hope it wasn't too serious. The Pirates should roll the next two weeks and set up the showdown over at the new field against SC.

no surprise. pikeville does the same old up the middle stuff. it doesn't work but they keep doing it. nothing different easy to defend. the program is in for a long dry spell in the future with this coaching mentality.

Believe me, Belfry does not just run it up the middle, but when they do,TongueirateSho they do it with a lot better line and more experienced players than Pikeville does. Pikeville just needs time and some healthy bodies and they will be fine in a year or two.

Copley needs to go back to Lawrence Co. and take the belly offense with him. The worst play calling I've ever seen in watching 30 years of Pikeville football.

People need to be patient. Pikeville does not have the horses right now. They are so limited with injuries and inexperience. Those plays will look good when there are a lot better and older players running them.

what will make the players better, though?? Other than experience

I am talking about in the future. For this season, the only thing that will help is to get healthy and that really is not happening with Baker getting hurt. However, taking better care of the ball and better tackling could help the team out this year.

Pikeville is way down...
#20
Was it just me or was the Pikeville Crowd really small for the game?

New coaching staff!!!!! The natives are starting to get restless.

Belfry outnumbered P'ville 4 to 1.

Changing coaches after 1 year could not be good for a team, I personally played for 2 coaches during my high school career and felt like nothing was ever solidified.
#24
he's been there more than 1 year and so has the rest of the staff. you keep talking about the future they will be devastated by graduations this year. the coaching staff seems to call plays like they aren't watching the game they are in. after it doesn't work after 10 or 12 times they just keep on doing the same thing. just poor coaching in my opinion
#25
If he has been ther for several years, he must have showed something to the higher ups to get hired. IMO not just anyone can get the Pikeville football job.
#26
maybe we should be questioning the higher ups then for a bad choice

I understand what you mean, but I was just saying that if he was given the pikeville job, being an experienced assistant, they should have known what they were getting.
#28
they are getting a 5 and 5 season out of a team that should be better than that
#29
They will have to beat paintsville to be 5 and 5, right?
#30
i was trying to be optimistic
