not 4 sure till belfry and sc play each other in the district championship game.

I agree. Until they are beaten by a 3a team, then Central is definitely number one.
#6
Louisville Central is in a class by themslelves in 3A.
#7
I don't know about a class to themselves. They have the athletes, but its a team sport. Central is the best, but there are a few close behind.
#8
I'd say Central right now, but Belfry and Sheldon Clark both seem strong this year
#9
Nobody.

SC has yet to really play anybody very good and Belfry hasn't really been tested yet either.

I have to go with Louisville Central on this one.

I agree. I believe the class is closer than people think. Proof: Central 23, Etown 14, this past Friday at Central.
#13
i would say central to,but go belfry, that cental - etown score is surpising, either etown is that good or 3a is wide open..
#14
Sheldon Clark is really looking good this year.
#15
Louisville Central but the 3a is always up for grabs i would like to see sheldon clark come away with it but its goin to be hard.
#16
I think it's as tight as it's been in a long time.

For now I'll give Central the edge.

Etown lost 42-35 in Week 3 to the same Lou. Holy Cross team that Belfry absolutely demolished in Week 1.

In my opinion right now:
1. Central

2. Belfry

3. Sheldon Clark
4. Breathitt County
5. Russell
6. Mason County

7. Etown
8. North Oldham
9. Henry County
10. Estill County
11. Harlan County
12. Paducah Tilghman
13. Taylor County

14. Somerset
15. Russellville

Belfry and Central

I'm sorry but Sheldon Clark has yet to play a good team. They have shown nothing that indicates they will compete for a 3A title.

Same with Belfry. No true test yet from a good team.

Russell has played one good team and failed.

Breathitt Has lost to the good teams they have played.

Nobody has stepped up except Central. Wins over Male and Etown with a close loss to Dupont Manual is much more impressive than any of the teams above.
#21
sheldon clark has played 3 good teams at the beginning of the season.. they came from behind to win the first two.. so they have been tested and they showed determination.. they can win it if they keep their heads on straight.. they are a very versatile team this year.

I cannot disagree with you at all. Here is how I differentiate between Belfry/SC/Russell/Mason/Breathitt.

Belfry
Best Win: Louisville Holy Cross (4-1) Belfry destroyed HC, since then the Cougars have been impresisve for 1A team knocking off 3A E'town and weak 5A South Oldham.

Loss: None, but they did get a scare from winless 4A Lawrence County on the road

Synopsis: Belfry has dominated weaker competition with ease, as well they should Holy Cross has proven to be a decent win, but far from a quality win. It is worth noting that Belfry's narrow win over LC was less than impressive, but they did play LC when the Bulldogs were at full strength.

Sheldon Clark
Best Win: @ 5A Perry Central. The Commodores only losses have been a nailbiter to Hazard and Sheldon Clark, but at best, PCC is a middle of the pack 5A team.

Loss: None, they have rolled over weaker competition and squeeked by PCC and Fairland, OH... defeated Lawrence County handidly.

Synopsis: The only reaosn I put them at #3 is because they have went undefeated and romped the teams who they should romp.

Breathitt County
Best Win: @ Harlan County. The Bears entered the game looking good on paper and the Bobcats took them behind the woodshed.

Losses (2): vs. 5A Johnson Central, @ 2A Pburg.

Synopsis: Though the Bobcats have been defeated twice, and narrowly escaped against Estill County, the Bobcats edge some 1-loss teams thanks to the fact that they have played a seemingly testing schedule. They took a Top 5 2A Pburg team to the wire, and did not get blown out too bad by a Top 10 5A Johnson Central. Yet to truly defeat what i would consider a "good" team.

Russell
Best Win: vs. 4A Boyd County. The Lions have the inside track to win their district, it is worth noting that Breathitt beat Boyd by a larger margin.

Losses (1): Vs. 5A Ashland

Synopsis: It is hard to argue that Russell has even defeated a quality opponent thusfar, much less a "good" opponent. The Devils have dominated weaker competition, but the story of Russell's season was that their only loss, was a very BAD loss to a GOOD team.

Mason County
Best Win: Not Applicable, no team they have defeated is even close to being considered quality.

Losses (1): 28-18 @ 6A Boone County

Synopsis: Mason is the most interesting case as they have dominated very weak competition with no wins over any teams resembling quality, and a surprisingly close win over a horrible Paris team. Yet, mason has played one very good team in a Top 10 6A Boone County on the road, and the Royals nearly defeated the Rebels. In other words, Mason earns respect more for a loss than any of their wins.

Belfry should have a good season ahead of them with Ivan Lee stepping up after Dustin May.

Louisville Central is good as always and IMO will be visiting Papa Johns stadium again, competing for another ring.

I haven't decided who I think will be playing them yet though.

I'm sorry but Fairland is not a good team at all. They are still winless and will be lucky to win 2 games this year. PCC is a pretty good team but not a world beater. Lawrence County decent talent but still yet to win a game against a tough schedule. East Ridge and Magoffin County with all due respect are terrible. I fail to see where this has proven Sheldon Clark to be a team to beat in 3A.

Thats pretty accurate.

Belfry and Sheldon Clark will sort things out between themselves soon enough.

You are right about Russell. A bad loss to a pretty underated Ashland team. A rivalry game where things snowballed on them. They have alot to prove with the remainder of their games.

Breathitt even with two losses may have been the most impressive of the bunch just because of the quality of opponents that they lost two and the fact the games could have gone either way.

I forgot to mention Mason County. But I just don't know what to think of them yet. The Paris game makes me wonder. Also they really got pushed around in a scrimmage with Ashland. That doesn't look quite as bad now.

Then you have the rest of the 3A teams in the west. I still have know idea what to think of them. Henry County finally got beat. Is North Oldham for real? I just don't know.

What I do know is that nobody in 3A has as much raw athleticism as Louisville Central.
#26
central duh
#27
Mason did play Boone co.A 6A school and lost 28-18 and were in the game late.
The rest of the teams are weak.
#28
Right now I'd have Central and Belfry at 1 & 2. SC @ 3 and Russell in @ 4. Obviously other teams could pull off upsets, but I think these are your top 4 in 3A.

Russell's last 3 games will show where they are at for the playoffs and all will be just like playoff games for the Devils and have them ready.
SK and Raceland are toss ups.
I fully expect Russell to take Mason to the woodshed.
