1. Bell County
2. Belfry
3. Johnson Central
4. Letcher Central

6. Breathitt County
7. Hazard
8. Rockcastle County
9. Corbin
10. Pulaski County

Letcher Central should have been ranked this high the whole time, there better than 7th.
#3
That looks right IMO
All of the teams are great, and I think they are in the position they need to be.
#4
Imo Johnson Central Should Be Higher I Am From Lawrence Co. But Jc Should Be Higher Even If They Lose This Week Which Is Very Likely.
#5
Who should they go ahead of Belfry or Bell County. I mean they got dominated on the line by Belfry last year and four of those five are back. Sure they beat Bell in a scrimmage game, but I have seen JC scrimmage and know how Bell does, Matney scrimages to win.
I think JC is def fine were they are at, even most JC fans will agree with you on that.
#6
That top ten is gonna change again this weekend coming. I still disagree with one of those spots. On the pre-season top ten alot of post said that Rockastle did not belong. I disagree and as you see they knocked off a higher ranked opponent from the go. Overall i am just happy that it is underway. The build up to the first game is nerve racking.

I agree, JC is fine where they are at.

You are living in a dream world if you think that Bell wasnt out to win. They go for 2 to take the lead late? Sounds like they are playin to win. Belfry should be on top of the top 10 anyways. I mean I kno they arent playin a rock hard schedule but the district is weak they were bound to Holy Cross in the PCB. I cant see the moutain top 10 changing until JC and Belfry square off later in the year,].

Pulaski County has a good chance to fall out of the top 10 this week because i believe they play mercer county.

you mean merger county Smile

The only thing I see wrong is Hazard still being in front of Rockcastle Co. after the beating they gave Pulaski Co. Hazard is a good 1A school, thats it. Flip those 2 teams around and it looks pretty good to me.

good top 10, can't complain the experts put it together.

Bell went for 2-point conversion since their All-State Kicker was injured earlier in scrimmage on bad snap/hold and had ice pack on his ankle! I talked to some of the players who were shocked when they got off the bus and found a game-like atmosphere. Was not at all what they expected, nor what they prepared for. This was a scrimmage! Last year JC folks pooh-hooed the fact that Bell played JC even and when the two kickers went head-to-head...and Merrick won that battle....they said....Bell did not win...only scrimmage!! LOL! All in your perspective. Bell viewed this as a scrimmage period. Dudley prepares his players for games in a much different way. Too bad, the reorganization separated this potential great rivalry in 3-A of old.

You are exactly right Bell County. Matney looks at every contest as a must win. Ask some of the Belfry folks about a freshman game either last year or year before. Belfry was laying the wood to JC and Matney came down on the sidelines and started coaching and JC got the win. Last year after the Belfry game in the interview by WYMT, it took until the last sentence for him to give Belfry credit for the win. Everything else was about how bad his team played. I have known Jim a long time and love him a lot, but he is beyond competitive.

You just lost all credibility in your post when you suggested there was this much anticipated head to head matchup between the JC kicker and Merrick. JC's kicker last year was terrible and is no longer playing. The kicker that they have this year is a freshman. There isn't a kicker in this state that's as good as Merrick. You mean to tell me that a team with as many players that Bell County has doesn't have another kicker. Thats weak man. Rolleyes

You say they were shocked with the game like atmosphere. What shocked them? There were no officials for the game. Both teams opened the scrimmage punting with no returns. What shocked them? Both coaches agreed that it would be a down and distance type scrimmage. So again I ask why were they shocked? Please include some details.

It's just a lame excuse if you ask me to cover up your first team defense giving up 394 yards in just three quarters and your team not playing well. :p

Below is last years scrimmage thread. Please tell me what JC fan "pooh-hooed" after last years scrimmage. From reading last year's thread I felt that the JC fans had high praise of Bell County last year.

By the way I think the rankings are perfect and I have no problem with them. I just had a problem with your post.

By how bad Hazard played against Green Co. they should take them out of the top 10... P-burg should be higher then Letcher Central.

I'm sorry Coach that you misunderstood my post. I NEVER said anything about Merrick/JC Kicker much anticipated "showdown." I was merely trying light heartedly notice the LOL comment.....that the two teams played even at the scrimmage and then the two kickers kicked....Merrick won the "battle" and so Bell folks said Bell won! Such is the nature of scrimmages. My comments were directed to posts from primarily other sites. Many JC fans said that Bell coaches blew whistles and stopped JC touchdown.....well, my perspective was that it was due to false start, etc....and a just whistle. Everyone interpreted it the way they want to. It was a scrimmage! No one is making excuses. I wasn't able to go so I cannot comment on scrimmage only on what I was told by players. and fans. As for the defense not playing well.....yes, they gave up too many yards. Some of the key Seniors lost (only 6) were at the heart of the run defense and new ones are working into these positions. Couple that with Matt Simpson (4 yr. starter at LB)....heart of run prevent out with shoulder separation, and Carton with broken hand....2 valuable run defenders on sideline. That hurt. Simpsons return will make difference. I was not on this site until recently, because I felt that Bell had little or no representation....so I climbed on board. I wan't referring to your reference to last year. I never had even visited this site until we played Sheldon Clark last year and discovered it. Most Bell fans have a great respect, including myself, for the JC program. Scrimmaging you last year made us better, as I am sure that this year's scrimmage helped expose early season work to be done. As for Merrick, I believe he has started every varsity game for four year. And yes, in the Mountains kickers are rare....the feeder programs rarely kick...and with Bell Co. having no soccer program.....not having a back-up kicker is not only a Bell problem. Most teams in our area don't even have a kicker who can consistently make PAT's. Most go for "2 pts." and squib the kickoffs!! We have been spoiled to have him. We wish JC well ....have a great season!
