The field may need a new nickname now then haha?
07-08-2008, 01:18 AM
Yeah, I played on it last year. It was kinda weird having real grass with rubber and grass mixed in the middle. LoL
, Good for Sheldon Clark!

yes they have tried for years to get grass growing in the middlle of the field and have wasted about the same amount of money its going to cost to get the turf....if im not mistakin tney are going to take up the majority of the track and a brand new draining system idk what the field is going to look like but hopefully its nice coach hager has been working hard on getting this he always wants the best for his kids

Sigh.
Jealous of your new field over here in Harlan County. Congrats! The kids deserve it for sure. Are there many coal mines in Sheldon Clark?

My initial response reading this thread was "There is no way on earth that they can get the land surveyed, graded down, and turf in place before the season starts!"
...... then I realized the field was already graded down to gravel and half the process is already done.
Good for SC! Finally, a field and facilities the SC faithful can be proud of!

Congrats!
If anyone needed turf it is SC. After 3 or 4 games their field is usually a mud bowl.
Should be a great motivator.

Great to see Coach Hager get a turf field. He really works hard in running a top notch program the right way.

Man i wish we had Coal mines in our area. Only thing we have is Not for profit hospitals and Japanese owned steel mill. No money in anything around here anymore. It is sad that other school s get donations from ONE or a couple of doctors to get turf. Russell will play that new grass field into the ground for years unitl they finally realize that spending money on TURF would have been the best choice..
Now I kow i am opening myself up to the grass field supporters but It is just my opnion.
Fire away.

I read the story in today's Mountain Citizen and it is certainly good news for Coach Hager and the school. It seems to me that the county is the one footing most of the bill for this but who really cares because if any team needed turf it is Sheldon Clark so Congrats to them and am looking forward to seeing the job finished. Just wondering if they will still call it The Rock:flame:

^ yea they will i hope it is onr of the best nicknames around i think

Latest word is that a change had to be made on the logo at midfield as the Cardinal that was to be palced there is a copyright belonging to Uof L. Work is slated to get started late this week or on Monday. There is nothing known as to what logo will be att midfield.
