Did Belfry fans feel at home in thier new stadium
#1
maybe it was just me but i just didnt feel like i was at home saturday night, dont get me wrong its absolutley beautiful, but there was a certain atmosphere at vipperman it was electric. and im certain that any visiting player would tell you that having all those fans right at your back screaming was kinda intimidating its kinda like a 12th man for belfry, hopefully i will get used to it, one thing for sure i will be there regardless of where we play! go pirates :?: Idea [/b]

If they hadnt of opened with such a powerhouse football team do you think the enviroment may have felt a little more at home. I personally think they should of schedule a more equally matched opponent for the opening debute of the new field.

I think the new staduim is wonderful a beautiful diamond in the mountains and cannot wait to see it in person. I was really attached to Vipperman stadium, it just felt so cozy, I loved being there. It had a certain mistique about it. It was almost impossible to get a win on that field. The beautiful mountains and the avid fans were right down on top of you, it would have felt rather intimidating to a visiting opponent.

Vipperman stadium will always hold the memories of the end of a 40 game win streak of three time State Champion Pikeville, the Mud Bowl with Breathitt Co., the rise of Tim Couch, the Regional Title that was stolen by Sheldon Clark, and best of all the birth place of Back to Back State Championships for its beloved Pirates in it last 2 years of existence. It was a fairytale ending for the Stadium, one that will be talked about for ages.

As time goes on, Belfry fans will grow more accustomed to their new Multi million dollar home. I am sure that these Pirates will have a great year and continue to build on the great foundation that is Belfry Football.

The Tradition Continues......

A great field that the 2 time defending Class AA champs deserved. Don't worry Belfry fans, the Pirates will be just fine. They faced one of the top 10 teams in the whole state. I believe the Pirates will be at Papa Johns again this year.

it wasnt so much the defeat that didnt feel the same it was just kinda like we were just "observers" whereas at vipperman you felt like you were a participant. but hey it may have just been the doggone heat. and i think that scheduling that team only made us better and i hope we replace ironton with someone just as tough you dont do yourself any favors by scheduling powderpuffs. im not disagreeing with you QQ just saying playing that team was the best thing for the pirates to do at this stage in thier development. so heres to mountain football, the mighty pirates and our soon to be beloved CAM stadium! 8)

Yes, I agree with you MRI. These kind of games will benefit them in district play and the playoffs. Again that is one of the nicests high school fields I have ever seen. Good times for Pirates and thier fans.

It did feel different..thats for sure. The stadium was beautiful..don't get me wrong. But I just couldn't get the same rush I got standing at the fence at Vipperman watching Dave and Doug run all over everybody. It's just didn't feel the same. But..everything has to change..so I guess we'll all get used to it. I'll be a Belfy fan forever..weither they play in CAM Stadium or in the middle of the highway.

I wasn't able to make it out to the game either, but one thing I did notice, when I watched it on tv, it looked extremely proffesional. When people arrive in Belfry to play, they will not be able to help but feel intimadated, just because the pride and professionalism that is displayed.
