This had been a 2-2 ballgame since the 1st inning, then in the bottom of the 5th, Paige Fletcher hit a 3 run shot to dead center field (not bad for her 2nd highschool game) and Mullins followed with a 2-run homer to left. The Hornets then scored their 12th run with 1 out in the 6th to get the mercy.
Great pitching by Cassandra Salyer who did not allow a walk and pitched out of a couple of tough situations.

This will be a real challenge for a very young lady Hornet squad with any coaching staff

:flame: Who are you calling inexperienced? Head Coach Holbrook has been coaching girls and boys basketball for many years and has some experience coaching softball in his past. Prater has been coaching for many years with Coach Skaggs. The Howard brothers have numerous years of playing the sport & coaching softball in their past...Little League, Babe Ruth. Their team went to state the last 2 years & won some games. I believe their family coached and sponsored a very successful Coastline/Salyer Coal Team for years. Coach Salyer has been coaching Magoffin County Summer League Softball for at least 4 years. And as far as MCHS hiring inexperienced coaches, most of these coaches are not there for money, they are there because they enjoy it, they're volunteers. How about supporting the team yourself instead of complaining? I think the team needs some positive support. Go Hornets!

Magoffin always plays well. Breathitt has Moore back as coach this year and will only make them better as the season goes on.
