Letcher Cent.Wins 53rd District JV Championship
#1
Letcher Central defeats JBS 54-30 after defeating Knott Cental earlier in the day. AWESOME performance by the young Cougars. And to think, they were the only JV team in the District that didn't play any juniors all year long.Shows what heart and determination can do for a bunch of kids. Way to go Cougars

Thats sort of a low blow to everyone else in the district just think about this knott central has 5 sophs on the court during the varsity games alot of times
they could have played some of those boys and ran away with it

Certainly wasn't intended as a "low blow" Norm Stewart. Just as congrats. to a YOUNG team. Everyone could have dropped kids down and played them on JV. Wasn't meant as a derrogatory remark. Just meant as a compliment to these "young Cougars" . Sorry if anyone is offended. The post was not for that purpose. I enjoy watching all teams develope. Letcher has used Jr"s in the past on their JV as well. Different class makeups each year require teams to have different JV team make-ups. Apologies to any and all offended.

It is meant for those kids that play all season, not just for the tourney. Experience in a tourney situation is the biggest asset. All 53rd district teams garner from the total experience and helps toward the upcoming district varsity play.

Congrats to the Cougars!

Congrats LCC and a job well done. On the topic of dropping players down for jv games, every team has done it. To stop this th KHSAA should give a list to each team that has all the players and they're grade on it. Seniors shouldn't be allowed to play on jv, and if they did, everytime they stepped on the court they would be given a technical, like they would for a illegal uniform. That's something I would do. Anyways, great job LCC.
