Depending on how soon the precipitation moves in, Western, Northern, and Central KY are likely to see some snow this afternoon, which will then change over to ice or freezing rain before changing to all rain overnight.
3-5 inches of snow is expected in Northern KY, while Central KY is projected to get an inch of snow and ice.
Some Eastern KY counties have been added to the winter weather watch, but the chances of Eastern and Southeastern KY getting any snow is slim.

I'm not as worried about this storm as I am the one this weekend. From the looks of the models, things could get quite interesting around here on Saturday into Sunday. Something to keep an eye on.
As far as tonight goes, I'd say generally 1-2 inches along and north of the Mountain Parkway that will quickly melt overnight due to rising temps and heavy rain.

According to the Winter Weather Advisory, East Ky is expected 1-3 inches of snow and up to an inch of ice. The hour by hour map showed the temp not getting above freezing until 10 or 11 Wednesday morning. Most hollows probably won't reach that until later in the day.

That's what Chris Bailey keeps saying as well. He keeps hinting that there's a bigger storm coming this weekend, but with the current one upon us he doesn't want our attention to wander.
However, they have just upgraded Lexington to a Winter Weather Warning and they're calling for 1-3 inches of snow for Richmond with up to a quarter inch of ice on top of that later tonight.
It's about to hit, the radar is even showing some snow over Richmond right now, but it's not hitting the ground just yet. Also, my cable keeps cutting in and out, so if I lose cable due to this thing, I'm going to lose my internet

Radar returns are looking much more impressive with this storm moving in tonight. The problem is, relative humidity is low as are the dew points. You need humidity levels above 70% for anything to reach the ground. It may take a while for that to happen, but the good thing is, there is moisture blowing up ahead of the main shield of precipitation. With moisture blowing up ahead of it, it will allow the upper atmosphere to moisten up allowing the heavy shield of precip to hit the ground. Like I said on Chris' weather blog, I kinda see Richmond being the sweet spot for tonight. Of course, temps will rise overnight turning all snow to rain.
This weekend is not looking as good with the latest model runs, but with about a week left, things can and will change. I will keep everyone updated.

Yea been on chris baileys blog (Cat Fan54) many in lexington and frankfort area are saying they are getting heavy snow, some nearing an inch. Justin what are your thoughts on Prestonsburg, I really dont want to go to school tomorrow. Saw where Jackson had taken down the Winter Weather Advisory.

The snow is real bad and its very slick around the Ashland area tonight. I've had the scanner on and already heard of 10 wrecks since about 6:30 pm

I'm in Delaware, OH right now and suppose to be going back to Covington tomorrow... I think they're suppose to get around 8 inches up here.... and it's very very cold.

There was a little over an inch in Delaware, OH about 30 minutes ago and it's still pouring.

Sorry CE about my prediction. Radar definitely showed some of the heaviest precip over Richmond all evening, but for some reason never reached the ground. Hard to believe that Richmond got nothing while Fayette Co. got 2-3 inches of snow. Doesn't make sense to me, but hey, that's weather in KY for ya.
Might see some backside snow tonight state wide. Could see a dusting from it, if the moisture sticks around once the cold front swings through.

There was about 4 inches up here in Ohio this morning... but it warmed up and it all melted and was raining earlier... its a mess now.

It was 65 degrees in southeast Kentucky today. 35 degrees in Louisville. Weird weather, lol.

It's 24 degrees in Richmond. We've just gotten a thin coat of ice, and now there is heavy, heavy snow, with flakes the size of golf balls. The ground became covered in less than 5 minutes. I'll try to post pictures soon.

No, there is a layer of ice below the snow and it just keeps adding up. Flakes aren't as big right now, but it's still snowing pretty good.
However, the band of precipitation appears to be getting smaller as this moves from west to east.
