Prestonsburg High School was fined 1,000 dollars and was forced to forfeit all of their games from the 2003 season. Allegedly, Prestonsburg let a player play football while underachieving in the classroom. The student/athlete apparently did not have the grades to be playing football, but was allowed to play under the consent of coach John DeRossett. This player was told by DeRossett that he could play as long as he attended summer school and passed that way. Well the student/athlete did not pass summer school and was held back the next year and was not allowed to be a part of the Prestonsburg football program. After hearing that news, the parents took it to KHSAA about him getting to play during the previous season even though he was failing. Obviously the parents won the case and P-burg was forced to forfeit all of their games from that season.

So does that mean everyone that played them that year get's a automatic win now?
04-15-2005, 05:36 PM
Yup. If you look on KHSAA's website and look up Prestonsburg's football schedule for 03 then you will see they have already made all of their wins losses by puting forfeit and the score 2-0 next to their name. The ones they lost, the score stayed the same but still say forfeit next to em.

So does this knock coach D out of the most wins at Prestonsburg?
I would have to say yes in my opinion but who knows........

Ah, We all know that they won these games, they players and the caoch both know they won those games on the grid iron

But if they allowed some things that were illegal to take place whom know what else they've done just to win over the years.

Care to explain your post catdawg?

That's messed up. That mean's East Ridge beat Prestonsburg in 2003!!!!!
I think CatDawg just meant that this right here makes you think, I dont think he was actually pointing something out that he knows of.

I assure you all, the allegations are false.

On the KHSAA website, ER 2 - 0 Prestonsburg. Its in the books. Mwahaha.
04-17-2005, 01:33 PM
Actually if I'm not mistaken, I heard someone say that if a player has a chance to make the grades during summer school then it is legal to let that player play as long as he can still graduate with his current class. And this was the case. He just flunked summer school and thats whats making this situation so bad. It's actually an exaggerated claim going against P-burg. Trust me, If Coach D thought it was wrong, then he wouldn't have played this player because it wasn't like he was a blue chip all star or anything.

Well I played in the game. I know that I beat the hell out of East Ridge and they know it. I don't give s $hit what the KHSAA website says.

Good for you hock:

In ER's dreams..

Not even in their dreams Basketballer. They'll NEVER beat Prestonsburg in football.
04-18-2005, 09:40 AM
East Ridge won't beat much of ANYONE in football. These boys aren't started young enough in any kind of good Little League or basically even a good Junior High program. Some boys have the size, a few have the talent, but I go to East Ridge and trust me, I want our school to have a good name for itself but in football, this school will probably never be known for doing much of anything....

I was not on the PHS football team in 2003, but my brother "was" going to graduate with the "ineliglble" player, and i can asure you that if coach D knew that the player was ineligible then he would not have played. He would have been on the bench. This is a disgrace to a wonderful football program, it's a shame what a few people will do to make a person look bad. And I believe an apology is in order for those who played on the team in 2003.

Alfus you have no CLUE what you are talking about. The fact is IF the player was indeed ineligible, it was the school's responsibility (NOT COACH DEROSSETT'S) to notify the player of him being ineligible. And the school didn't. Prestonsburg has sat many players alot better the the player in question, so Coach D had no reason to play him. ESPECIALLY when the player's senior year, Coach Derossett didn't allow him to play. Now if Coach D was a cheater, why wouldn't he have played him this year? Makes total sense doesn't it? NOT.
04-20-2005, 02:14 PM
Get'em Gish!!!!!!!!!!....lol.....but he does make a point. It is the school responsibility to notify the player or the coach and tell him/her that he/she is not eligible.
04-21-2005, 01:08 AM
well it dont matter who's responsibility it was... if indeed that player was ineligible and he played then Pburg should have to pay the penalty. SF had a simialr thing in their early years when they played a perosn ineligible. they had to forfit all games they won, which wasnt many.. But anyways stil if Pburg was in the wrong then they shoould be held accountable... no better than any other school.
so, now thats said... did they play a player who was ineligible? cause i am lost....lol

Guys its over there is no point in arguing now there is nothing that will change the KHSAA's decision.
04-21-2005, 01:24 PM
Pantherman, nobody is arguing over anything.

Sure Looks Like it! 8)

Wow, this is crazy, but fair. To say the coach had no idea is bullshit. The coaches would have surely been told by the AD. Anyways, that's what P-burg gets for playing inelligible players.
04-22-2005, 12:19 AM
They did NOT play anyone that was INELLIGIBLE..
