Super Bowl Halftime Show!
#1
Is anyone else but me tired of seeing these geriatric bands they have been getting to play the halftime shows? Since the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake boob a few years ago, the halftime entertainment has sucked big time. Why not bring in bands that people actually want to listen to and see in a halftime show? How about younger bands, bands that people wont go to sleep listening to and bands that will actually keep the crowd alive and pumped up. Now dont get me wrong, Tom Petty was good, in his day and I even like a few of his songs but they are not Super Bowl entertainment material. Besides they didnt even play one of their best and my favorite, "Mary Janes Last Dance". I probably would have liked it better had they performed it. Like I was saying, how about getting some better entertainers for the halftime show, and no geriatrics. I actually saw in the Lexington Herald a few days ago where a woman wanted Tony Bennett for christs sake. Thats just crazy.

If you were alive for Superbowl I, you shouldn't be able to be the main attraction of the Superbowl.

Tom Petty has more musical talent in his old, geriatric finger than most of todays acts have in their entire band. Next year I vote for either Van Halen or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to do the halftime show.

I thought it was a good halftime show! The crowd was awesome and really seemed to enjoy it!

I haven't liked the last couple either. Tom Petty wasn't that bad but it could have been better. My all time favorite show was Super Bowl 35 show with NSync, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, and Nelly with Ben Stiller as the host. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_-oJKyHHxKk)

Also, the U2 one in 2002 was good, but I think more of because it was right after 9/11.

They need to get multiple acts together to make it a good show instead of just one band.

I loved the show, but I love Tom Petty. They couldn't play Mary Jane or You Don't Know How it Feels (two amazing songs) because of the drug referances.

Having said that, did anyone see the pacemaker hooked up to Tom Petty's heart that was inside his guitar?

hey he is a musical legend, people forget that not everyone who watched the superbowl is 15-25 years olds. As a matter of fact i would say that a huge chunk is 35 and older. Classic bands attract a wider variety of people than just hip/hop or pop artists who only appeal to the younger generation.

Tom Petty may be old....but a much better pick than say.............Ashley Simpson.

I like the idea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers doing the halftime show. Hey....Zeppelin got back together, so why not get Zeppelin to play?

Show was pretty good, Tom Petty has always been one of my favorites. I just wished it could have lasted longer than it did.
