Miners to make appear at WYMT Classic
PIKEVILLE, KY. â Members of the East Kentucky Miners professional
basketball organization will make an appearance during the WYMT Classic
boysâ high school basketball tournament Friday evening at Knott County
Central High School. Defending 14th Region champion June Buchanan,
Pikeville (last seasonâs 15th Region runner-up), Cumberland and Hazard are
the teams that remain alive in the tradition-rich prep boysâ basketball
tournament. Knox Central, Breathitt County, Clay County and Knott County
Central were also participants in this yearâs WYMT Classic. Fridayâs
semifinals matchups â June Buchanan vs. Pikeville and Cumberland vs.
Hazard â will air live on WYMT. In addition to Friday nightâs high school
action, fans will be able to catch the Miners in a workout. The Diamond
Girls, official dance team of the Miners, are scheduled to perform prior
to the tip-off of Friday's opening game. The Miners will conduct their
workout before the start of the second game.
WYMT aired East Kentuckyâs inaugural game live. The Coach Kevin Keathley
Show Presented by Appalachian Wireless airs on WYMT each Thursday at 7:30
p.m.
East Kentucky is off until Monday when American Conference foe Pittsburgh
visits for a key contest. Tip-off for the upcoming East
Kentucky-Pittsburgh game is set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the East
Kentucky-Pittsburgh conference matchup remain available.
