Covington Catholic and Highlands:
Not going to take long with the 2025 schedules to see where these Class 4A teams stand. Highlands plays Frederick Douglass out of the gate and talking about a big win. Same goes for Covington Catholic against Ryle. These two teams also play each other OCT 3rd. Franklin County losing in a big way to CAL has got me stumped at the moment.

Franklin County and Paducah Tilghman:
I am wanting to hear from those Franklin County fans and tell us what is going on??? Franklin County honestly should be a contender this year after a nice run last season.
Paducah Tilghman looked good against a Owensboro Catholic scrimmage I watched. Still early though to say they are the overall #1 team in 4A like the ranking of Lexington Herald has put out. I do think they are in the mix after seeing the film and that speaks volumes of the leadership at PT.

Corbin and Boyle:
Boyle looked good after I watched the highlight film put out by the team. Man, they have a defense. Offense will be fine, I know Haddix, and I don't worry about the offense none. It will progress just fine. I think by years end, Boyle will be a team dreaded by round 3.
Corbin after seeing the outcome with GRC. They have some boys who are seniors that I will be pulling for and big fans of. Love the Estep, Stevens, Pietrowski trio, they won a Middle School Championship and what better way to cap off a Senior season and win a state title for Corbin. Now before this gets taken out of perspective, all these 4A teams sets the end goal as winning a title. I don't know much about Corbin yet as I haven't seen the offense, but I think the first game will tell all because Linton Stockton is a good test out of the gate.

Ashland and Johnson Central:
I think Ashland with a young QB will look to just finesse the offense game by game. Defense is rock solid but will play a 1A team looking to get back that close loss last season and will put Ashland to the test.
Johnson Central does what they do year in and year out and they just grind grind and grind. I think they will overcome the points they give up and end up being a threat to make a deep playoff run. JC has a good schedule. It will show where they are at.

Rest of 4A:
Taylor County going 10-0...Possibly but they won't last long against the top 8 if they don't play a top 8 team.  Smile

Bull I’m going to screenshot your poll and we’ll see how it pans out by season’s end, I think someone is underestimating Boyle and Corbin at this point!

You’re not going to be able to assess Highlands from the Fredrick Douglas game, Douglas only returns 3 starters on offense and 5 on defense, the Birds shouldn’t have any trouble at all, and if Ryle is as good as the preseason rankings I’ve seen they won’t have any problems with Covington Catholic.

Things will shape into place throughput the season.  Bull it's like you said in another thread, "Cream Rises." It always rises to the top and the best teams will be there by season's end.
I watch alot of Toughman boxing contests. That one announcer/broadcaster Idk at the times I've heard him use the same phrase that you did "Cream Rises." That's the first thing I thought of was that guy when you said that!

And that's true, everyone will have their say and chances throughout the season and playoffs  Wink

I honestly see how this is how its going to go, except PT. Boyle could go 15-0 and dominate, or be 6th in 4A. Its just hard to rank them anywhere but 1 or 2 when they win like 44 of 45. Just know there is no quisenberry to save Boyle in close games. Still an elite defense.

I have the opinion Highlands could walk this year, they return the most. Litmer is probably the class POY.

Franklin is right there too. Honestly 1-4 is mismatch with PT being 5. Corbin, Ashland, and JC are that next group that can be ordered any way. Best class and wide open. hardest to rank by far and everyone is going to be mad.

Smile There was no Quisenberry when Haddix went to a heavy graduated Boyle County program who just lost in a state championship game and no way they were going back to win a state championship game the next year with a loaded 4A class. But Haddix took his offense developed a team won 2 titles before Q arrived. Now, Boyle will have to establish an identity on offense, but I have watched enough football, Boyle will be fine.

Corbin will be fine also. New QB sure will take a game or two to settle in but make no mistake about it, this young man has his dad as the play caller. Well, that tells me, he will do whatever it takes to shine in Corbin with his boy there. The film looked awesome, and he was down field, running, and very capable of moving the offense with ease. The other big keys is utilizing Pietrowski and Estep and others like Stevens and Persons. I don't know all the offense, but Corbin should have a lot of young players coming up and a ton wanting to see the field. This is a new skipper in Corbin, so I can't say anything because I hadn't seen anything to say just yet. Last year Elam and Kid Elam was there, and I knew what he could do and what type of offense they had ran in the past. Corbin has a 3-game stretch that will define them as a team. Because they make it through that stretch they will be primed for a very deep playoff run.

Johnson Central has a tuff schedule. Good schedule for their type of play. The right balance of teams to press them and like Corbin, these games will give a good indication of how deep they will go. JC was only a few points away from playing for a chance to go to Kroger Field last season.

Highlands is the team I wasn't giving the credit to like I probably should be. But Highlands also has to finish. they had a heck of a regular season last year and if they repeat, they could be the top team in 4A. But before I say that for real, I have to see Covington Catholic game.

Smile Jack, I just posted the rankings, its not my poll. Now I have stated that Covington Catholic is the top team preseason IMO coming into the season because of the QB. He is tuff. But I honestly didn't have Highlands as the better team even though they won the earlier matchup, I thought CC must have gotten better by seasons end. I know all about Franklin County beating them, I watched it. That game could have went either way. Thats why this season, its a 4 way or 5 way street. Boyle, no doubt is probably going to rise up and potentially be the top team again if not right now in 4A. I'll just go ahead and say it. Its just seeing them against real competition and I'll be able to gauge them real good. Corbin is like that also, hard to figure out a team until I see them on film. Regular season film that is. Paducah Tilghman is looking like they are in that mix but they did graduate alot. Franklin County is just one of those dang teams that no matter how they start, they will be a 4th round team to be played to see who goes to Kroger. So no doubt PT and Franklin will be the teams out of the West, but the East is the tuff one. You got horses named Boyle, Corbin, Johnson Central, Covington Catholic Highlands and Ashland that are in a Red Mile trying to get to the two spots. There might not be a touchdown difference between all these teams. I will be eating alot of popcorn come last November and early December with this group. For some reason, Highlands is just ringing in my mind for some reason to take a deeper dive and watch film. They are loaded and may be the team to beat in 2025. Who knows right now. I know one thing, they have a kid whos dad I sure was a fan of when he was QB at Kentucky. Loved watching that guy!.  I can eat crow, see Pikeville game thread!

Smile This poster is like you, I knew when I give him this class he would make it very interesting. He aint afraid to give his opinion. But you can put 10 different polls up and they all would be close. 4A is just that way early on.

At this stage in the season, this looks as correct as anything else.

Smile John Hardin and Taylor County square off down the road in regular season play. Doug Preston may have a very good team this year with what he has returning. Im just curious about Bardstown. I know Taylor County is primed for a good season. Looking at the lower end of the top 10. Someone give us a update on these teams.
