Martin County/Pikeville/Letcher Central Scrimmage
#1
Any thoughts? Who all is attending? Should be good for all teams.
#2
Agreed it'll be good for all teams, I like it. Be a good tune up and practice for LCC heading into the JC game. Anytime you can scrimmage and practice on the field with Pikeville is a big help. I'm pulling for Martin Co to have a strong run this year. Got some nephews coming up in their feeder program.

Be a much needed scrimmage for MC. Have a bunch of young skill guys that need some experience.. but good thing is they have almost the whole offensive line back this year as they are all juniors but one sophomore. That will be a big help for some of the younger skill guys

I’m curious to see how Martin county will be this year. I’ve heard big things but also several concerning factors. Time will tell

3 good QBs in this trio. I expect LCC to do well. It will be interesting to see Martin Co new offense and how they can stack up against these two. I don’t expect them to “beat” either team in a controlled scrimmage environment and definitely not in a real game but can they compete? If they do, it will show they can have a season to be proud of. I think they’ll use Maynard more during the regular season than they do in a preseason scrimmage but he’s their horse. They have some line play and backs. Same on defense with line and LBs. They need some skill guys to come along. The other thing I am interested in is how Pikeville looks after losing a lot of experience. They have talent but will it grow up fast enough? More questions about the Panthers than in a long time. They have a few young men who will make a name for themselves this season. Seen LCC couple times in 7on7. Saw them a couple games last year. I think they’re set to have a good year. QB is solid. Have nice players all around and plenty returning. I think they can make a deep run. Between this scrimmage, Raceland/Belfry, Lawrence/JC/Russell, and Hazard/Bell, good night of football to watch. Hope some streams are scheduled but if not, will be good to hear what people think about the teams.

What Day?

It should be a great opportunity for each program to see what they have with some of the inexperienced guys they have that'll play major roles this upcoming season.

I saw that schedule that says 6:30, but it says "youth football". IDK what that means. IDK if that's High School or not.

All about the line play. Loaded at skill positions.

I look for martin county to have solid line play with maynard and lafferty leading the skills. I have also heard though that martin has a starting lineman out with a concussion already. They graduated like 14 or 15 starters last year so its going to be a pretty fresh team for them. I hope they can find something to give them a confidence boost against 2 very very good and respected programs. If so itll be a great year for martin. I also believe pikeville and LCC are both going to have very solid seasons. Pville always has to be respected and LCC has a phenomonal qb who can flat burn a defense up. Only time will tell.

Don't look for Lafferty to play much skill play at all for MC .They have to keep him healthy for the Defensive side of the ball .

If Lafferty is their best option at RB then they’d be shooting themselves in the foot by not playing him at RB. It’s 2A football, you can’t have your best players just playing on one side of the ball. They’re already going to be thin enough at the skill positions as it is. If they have an equivalent player to play RB then that’s one thing, but I really don’t think they do.

Dillon Daniel will be a good option but again hes just a freshman. Lafferty is a decent back but on another tier on defense. He really should play both ways but if martin was to split reps with lafferty and someone else i dont believe it would be a huge hurt to them on offense

Wish Dillon Daniel the very best. He’s a great kid. Look for him to get some significant playing for the cards this season.

Same here. Also would like to hear how Jr High did. They look like a zillion $$$ in practice, hope it translates to another championship.

I was present. Pikeville looks better than they did last year . Will make a run to Kroger field. LCC solid , big line , tough . MC every where. Maynard and Lafferty look good. Lafferty did a good job at RB. All around defense looked weaker than last year . Hard to lose Cheek at LB.He and Lafferty were a great combo last year. Dillon Daniels looked good . Needs some experience but if Lafferty takes him under his wing it could all turn out nice for the Cards.
