Summer Ball
#1
With Summer Games in full swing, what is everyone looking like?
#2
I follow the 12th region and so far I've not heard that many scores and the ones I've heard have teams missing key players for various reasons. Pulaski has 2 starters out recovering from surgery. DCA's best player has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Somerset has had starters gone for football and baseball camps.

Summer ball, makes me feel fine
Blouncin' through the jasmine in mind...

I watched Flyod play Lee on D&D last night. Looked like the new coach had em working hard. Kid from Lee was a stud. Pike Central and Betsy Layne both seem down this Summer after transfers. Saw Pikeville on a live stream, and seemed to be more guard heavy than in years past. The game I saw Martin play online they didn’t seem to have all their starters with them.

No Betsy Layne after watching in person to see them play I can say they having a coaching problem. Yes summer ball is a time you want to experiment with different things but you still have to be careful.

The looked to be struggling with a point guard. If they don't get some different players coming out in October, its going to be a very long season for them.

Got to see Floyd play Lee. Looked like Lee was without several of their players but Flinchum is tough. Floyd looked pretty decent. Also seen Perry and Shelby Valley. Matt Taylor done Matt Taylor things and got 2 technicals for throwing the game ball behind the benches.
#9
Lawrence looked good against Hazard and Chapmanville.

Betsy Layne looked better with Allen and a couple others back. Beat Knott and then beat Magoffin, even though BL was without a couple starters and probably their 6th man.

Yes!  Tomcats get #8 this season!

Floyd Central looks like they’re taking the defensive side way different this year. Stopped by and watched a game and I was at a couple games last year but this summer I’ve never seen them talk on defense or dive for 50/50 balls like they did. Perry must’ve lit a fire underneath them. Lucas Howard is gonna be a monster. Any news on if Meade Curry and Anderson are going to play?

It’s common for the first week of practice or first month with a new coach.

The real test will be can they sustain it when crap hits the fan. When wins and losses matter. When stats matter. When playing time will be tighter.

If that’s the case, they better pray Trump reopens Alcatraz—because Boyd County might need a whole wing just for one special somebody!

I think playing time matters to the upper and lower class men but may matter more too the younger players who believe they should be playing varsity and I honestly think the coach has a general understanding of who he wants to play during the season. This may had occurred during the Morgan Co game unless something changes.

I agree Flyod seemed to be playing harder lately and Howard will be a monster.

East Ridge seemed to improve a lot this off season. Was glad to see that they were competing.

Johnson Central looked good the other day. Slone is just an athlete and they are a tough bunch of kids.

Watched Shelby Valley and Belfry last night on D&D. Valley shot the lights out. Both teams were high energy, but Valley came out with the W.

Saw some Lawerence County games. They didn’t look as good as I expected, but come season, Thompson will have them ready. Playing with a big will be a different style of play from last season.

When does Pikeville play? Haven’t seen them much. What about Phelps? Haven’t seen anything from them either.

I heard Ashland played Chesapeake Ohio. Ashland lost by 20+. Completely out of it from a physicality standpoint. Any truth to this?

Watched 15th today on D&D again….
Hard pressed to not say that Taylor has built  the best team in the 15th they beat Lawrence in every way today.
Second game vs Huntington Expression Prep same deal won by almost 20 Hamilton had 7 3s

Pikeville looked good at Xavier camp with Parsons playing. Lot of injuries right now though so hard to tell with them without Hall healthy have not seen them at full go yet

JC was also impressive beat Belfry to death minus Brody Little but i don’t think he is making up 30pt loss since they have all their players from baseball now

Summer ball doesn’t mean a lot cause im sure a lot will still transfer but as of now these are the best 3 I have watched in the 15th

All these below are just under the first 3
Martin (minus the big transfer everyone talking about)
Paintsville
Lawerance
In no order

Keathley obviously changes the dynamic with his move to Martin if it happens

57th districts regional championship to lose this year. Not a team in the 15th can play with them.
#19
Are there any games today? And will anyone be going live? Stuck at work but would love to watch some games today.

Pikeville played at Xavier without Burgett, had others.

JC, Lawrence, Paintsville and SV look to be top 4 based on current summer rosters.

Same was said last summer. Don't sleep on Pikeville, Shelby Valley or Lawrence. Parsons is a huge addition to Pikeville. They can play 5 point guards that can all shoot high percentages

Completely disagree. I’ve see a lot of close games this summer that would suggest otherwise.

The 15th is wide open….Lawrence proved that last year! I’ve seen Lawrence, Floyd Central and JC play and they are definitely a threat to be at Rupp!
#24
Shelby Valley had an impressive summer. I'd say them and JC best in the 15th.

No, Fc is definitely not going to rupp if they make it to district or final four of regional that be impressive. Now Lawerence or JC could be more than likely to make it.

Because some people feel they have to say that on every thread about summer basketball.

Keathley made the move per Twitter today. But went to Southeastern Prep

With Keathley being at Martin Co now,,,
How much does that shake up the 15th rankings?

JC
Lawerance
Pikeville
Valley
Paintsville

Thoughts opinions?

Where does Martin fit? With the addition of Keathley?

(I know it’s not official but we all know it’s done where there is smoke it’s always fire)
