A week after the regional tournaments ended here in the mountains, there's still a few around the state that the semi-finals are getting started back up tonight, with some championships tomorrow night, and Wednesday.
Semi-Finals Mon. 3/17
4th Region:
Barren Co. vs. Clinton Co.
Russell Co. vs. Bowling Green
Would have to figure BG would be the favorites out of the 4th, especially with Warren Central going down in the 1st round.
5th Region:
Caverna vs. Adair Co.
North Hardin vs. Green Co.
This region will come down to Green vs. Adair which should be a great game if it happens.
8th Region:
North Oldham vs. Walton-Verona
South Oldham vs. Spencer Co.
Would be a heck of a rivalry game championship if you get North vs. South but defending region champion Spencer Co. & Walton-Verona will try and play spoiler.
10th Region:
Mason Co. vs. Montgomery Co.
Despite a tough season for Mason, they've really turned it on as of late and won their last 8, same goes for Montgomery, started out slow but they've won 9 out of their last 10, lone loss to #1 Trinity. Both teams playing well at the right time, should be in for a dandy.
Nicholas Co. vs. GRC
Only meeting came in the first game of the season and GRC beat them pretty handily, don't think much will change this time around, other than losing last year, GRC has owned the 10th the last 5 years.

Regional Championships Tue 3/17
2nd Region:
Henderson Co. vs. Madisonville North-Hopkins
Meaning we will have not only a new 2nd region champion, but a new State Champion as Lyon Co. was ousted in the semi-finals by Henderson Co, the favorite to win it.
9th Region:
Cooper vs. Lloyd Memorial
Record wise the best 2 teams in that region, took down the more recent heavy hitters of the 9th in Newport & CovCath. Cooper went on the road in January and defeated Lloyd by 4, this one should be a great game.
5th & 8th Region Championships on Tuesday.
4th & 10th Region Championships Wednesday.

Trinity isn't the #1 team like I'd put on the original post.

It is interesting to me that the regionals are this stretched out. Is there any reason for that?
How do we think this will affect the teams with a long lay-off? Lawrence County was playing as hot as anybody in the state. Now they have 16 days in between games. As a coach that would be really hard to maintain that same level with only practices.

Really don't understand it either, I understand that they had to get the girls in due to the state tournament being last week but they could've done all the super-regional play in games last weekend, then had first games 2 nights last week, semi-finals last night or tonight, then the championship Wednesday, like most other regions have done and only have a week in between instead of over 2. Lawrence wasn't the only team to have to deal with that, look at every other region around here, done the same exact thing, so APB, Breathitt, North Laurel have had to try and simulate game situations in practice. Rest vs. rust debate will be hot and heavy come next week that's for sure.

With the delay they could have played the boys regionals this whole week. Hard to lay off for 2 weeks and stay fresh.
