How many did Sperry have?

Time for Holland to hang it up. You can have as many regular season wins as you want against a team but this is the one that matters. Breathitt owns them in post season, plain and simple. No reason he shouldn’t have had a regional championship at least 1 of these pat 3 years.
#5
Hazard goes 4-1 against Breathitt on the season but Breathitt wins the one that matters most
#6
Hazard losing Eversole to graduation this year is gonna hurt them next season unless they reload.
#7
Never leave the region, never schedule good opponents unless it’s at home. Can’t win unless there is 14th region officials gargling on holland. It’s a shame we will never know how fraudulent Hazard is when they play at Rupp.

Guess we will never know, they are such frauds that first time they lose 14th officials they lose to breathitt lol.

Hazard would’ve finished 6th in the 13th. Where is Bac?

Knew Sperry would do it for em

Wanted to hop on here really quickly to close things out going into the Sweet 16. Been off the site for about a month (for my own mental health lol) and wanted to make a quick appearance.

I’m privileged to broadcast the biggest games in the 14th Region year after year and the last few seasons have been special. Breathitt’s resurgence as a contender in the 14th has been a breath of fresh air and I’ve had the best seat in the house for both of their championships. This was a GENERATIONAL tournament showing by Austin Sperry. He went about 12 minutes in the game against Perry as the lone Bobcat to score. His ability to score and get his teammates involved was something to behold. He was the best player on the court every night. I’ll be in Rupp for the Bobcat run and hope to see a few more of those performances from Sperry and the Bobcats.

Breathitt moves to 4-7 against the Bulldogs over the last three years, with three of their four wins ending the Bulldogs season in the regional tournament in as much time. They’ve always won the games that matter the most.

As for Hazard, incredible run this year and it’s a testament to their resolve that they had a shot to win it at the buzzer. Any other team would have lost by 10 in the same scenario. Seth Caudill is set for a big year next year.

Also wanted to shout out the Hazard faithful for embracing me like they have this year. I’ve had to earn a lot of trust from them due to the antics of my younger years and some of the shenanigans I’ve gotten into on this very website. It’s an honor to do what I do for the 54th District and 14th Region and I aim to do justice for every student athlete. I fall short sometimes but in the end my heart is with the kids and the game.

Everyone do yourself a favor and go back and watch at least the first quarter of this one on the WSGS YouTube channel. It’s the best first quarter I’ve ever seen maybe and you may end up watching the entire game.

Hazard beats anybody in the 13th… funny how the 13th region officials got to call this game. Pure out unethical for that teams region officials to call a game that the winner faces there region team. I won’t make excuses because if Hazard hits free throws down the stretch they probably win. But 6 seconds was added to the clock during a clock malfunction that happen twice late in the 2nd quarter. These happened when Hazard had a 4 point lead then extended to 6. If those 6 seconds aren’t added then Breathitt doesn’t have the chance for that should from Honeycutt to end the half. Hazard had Breathitt on the ropes and that delay stunned the Hazard momentum and give Sperry much needed breather each time as he was sucking wind.
But credit Breathitt County they made shots, they got key loose balls, won the 50/50 balls. Hazard got no hands up on most shots.

You can feel free to go back watch the game. Hazards Evin Eversole worked hard all night and Not one foul was called when there should have been. The only foul that was called was late and it was clean (my opinion). After letting all the other ones go.

Hazard would have been at best the fifth best team in the 13th.
#12
Hazard beat the favorite in that region, no reason they couldn’t beat any of the rest. Harlan Co lost to two teams and one of those teams in the team who won it.
#13
But enough about that. Let’s Congratulate the Breathitt County bobcats for its 2nd trip in 3 years to Rupp. Those kids battled and hit big shot after big shot tonight.
#14
Out coached and out played tonight. And I disagree with it being said they only were good because of schedule. That is complete BS. Breathitt matches up good with Hazard and that showed tonight. Hazard did not have 14th refs in the All A state where they had big wins against good teams. Give me a break with that. Both teams were good enough to win the 14th and one of them did.

Man i really don’t know how in the heck you can say they beat everyone in the 13th when they couldn’t beat everyone in the 14th. You then immediately go into saying that the refs from another region are not neutral. I went back and watched the game, and you might need to be on medication. If it had been corbin or Harlan County playing in the 13th region championship, then yes I would maybe think the refs had some sort of connection. But there was no connection between either team Hazard could have played and the officials. One is being sent to the sweet 16 to officiate. I know you are blinded by the officiating you had all year, you know the guys who go have beers with the coaches after the game cause they “go back”, but that is how basketball actually is played. Not one player or coach knew one official.

Hazard was/is/will be frauds. They would be a first round exit at the 13th region tournament and the next 3 best teams in the 14th would not have sniffed the 13th region tournament. It’s like comparing the SEC and the ACC.

Congrats on breathitt, I thought they had them beat late in the regular season and found a way to lose. I hope the best for them on their bus ride to rupp and their bus ride back home later that night.

Hazard would get killed by North and South, heck if they played Harlan Co, Corbin outside the 14th they would have their hands full with them. 13th is way better than the 14th but hats off to Breathitt look forward to watching them at Rupp!

Fantastic regional tournament

Harlan County beat Breathitt by 19, Knott by 15 and Perry by 40 and lost to Hazard by 1 at Perry. Hazard must not be playing as well as they did earlier in the season.
Happy for coach Honeycutt. I didn't expect it.

Sperry showed up tonight on a mission. He’s the best player in the region and has been for a while. Not a breathitt fan by any means but he deserves his praise. Honeycutt done a hell of a job. Hazard gets so predictable especially when you play them 25 times a season like they did breathitt this year. Hate to see it end for the hazard seniors. Good luck in their futures.
#20
Hell yeah. Got home late but so glad to be going back to Rupp. Honeycutt has own the dawgs in the post season. Hazard loses Eversole but returns a lot. I’d say Holland is glad to see not have to see Sperry and Honeycutt again.

Hazards only loss in the 14th came tonight. So how do u know if any of the officials tonight who called the Hazard/Breathitt game have any ties to any of the two teams from the 13th region teams who played tonight? Because the likely hood is very possible those officials have ties to those schools. But I can tell you this, I bet the 13th is happier to see Breathitt County than Hazard and I’d put all the money in my wallet on that.

I can’t disagree that the 14th was rather weeks this year, but the two best teams played tonight for once in the championship instead of the semis. Breathitts only losses in region was all to Hazard.

I wish the 13th region luck not to get Sperryed!!!!
#22
I thought Hazard would win this one. Congrats to the Bobcats.
#23
Great game by the Bobcats. Hazard came into the game scared/nervous. Sperry came out of the gate hitting big shots. Hazard was big on the offensive glass early but the Bobcats were able to rebound late and hang on for the win. Good luck to the Bobcats at RUPP, looking for a good game between them and North Laurel.

I think the whole county of Breathitt knew the Bobcats was going win. Sperry maybe the greatest player to ever play in the 14 th. His performance in this year regional tournament maybe the best tournament ever.

congratulations to Breathitt county.best of luck.

Out played. Out coached. Coach of the year, player of the year. All for nothing.

I can tell Hazard got beat last night the crickets are chirping on Facebook!!!
If anyone gets a chance run by the holler and check on the DAWGS

Watched a lot of players throughout the years in the 14th. I must say Sperry is the most dominant player I have saw. He’s been the best player in the region for 4 years. Maybe the best ever. At least then past 30 years. Congratulations Austin and the Bobcat Nation.

Hated to see either team lose this one. However, couldn’t be happier for the Bobcats and Austin Sperry. I thought he was robbed for player of the year. He sure carried the Bobcats through this regional tournament. Well deserved run for Honeycutt and Breathitt. Best of luck at State.

Hard for Hazard to play outside Memorial. They are a good team, and could stand on their discipline and talent, but they rarely have to as the refs in the 14th will give them the call 10 times out of 10!
