Watched this one.
Moreno had two or three early dunks-- also went into the half with two fouls. Station hit enough threes in the first half to stay in the game, think they were 4 of 6. Hadn't watched them as much lately, but expected more full court pressure from the Defenders. They didn't run a lot offensively, lots of stagnant offense and scoring droughts.
Thought Brunley Fon was much improved for Bryan Station. Thought Amari Owens could have gotten a couple more calls on the way to the goal-- Lyon County definitely got those calls going to the goal against Great Crossing in Rupp last season. For as little as they ran, Station did have some moments where they showed a formula for beating Great Crossing-- getting the ball into the paint, and kicking out/swinging for open shots & putting Moreno on the foul line. The only problem is that few teams will have Station's overall talent, athleticism, and toughness, and if they do, they may not shoot as (uncharacteristically) well as they did on this night.
Overall, thought Great Crossing was stronger last year than this year, but also get the sense that this was an awkward match-up and they didn't have the greatest game (they were also down their point guard). At the end of the day, Station couldn't score enough to overcome their unforced turnovers and how much they gave up to Moreno, especially given how easy it came to him.

Looked like it came down to the wire, looks like it'll be GC vs. Frederick Douglass for the 11th region title.
I'm sure it'll be a heck of a game, but no shot Moreno doesn't get back to Rupp. more than likely Mr. Basketball & Kentucky commit.
