Shelby Valley falls to Floyd Central at home. Historically a mountain powerhouse, where does Valley go from here? They havent won a region tournament game since Jim Hicks last year in the 2019/2020 season.

They won 9 games last year. They definitely improved this year. Leave Matt Taylor alone for a while

Need to recruit some because no having a bench player is hurting them. They have to develop a bench to go too.

Are we after his head after 1 year into job that was a nightmare the year prior? Coaching is a crazy world now days for high school jobs.
8-18 year prior and 3 of those wins were East Ridge and another was Belfry who was also terrible.
To a winning record 15 wins with a team almost upsetting Pikeville for district title that has 1 player on it that even participated in a varsity game last year in any real time.
And we want him gone?
I agree to above
SV has no bench was evident tonight
When the foul trouble started
All freshman so that’s a bright spot for future I bet next year they will have couple who can contribute

To the house lol wouldn't most people consider this game a toss up game. Floyd winning isn't an upset in my mind. SV had a good team

Time for East Ridge and Shelby Valley to consolidate. Worst ER team ever, and SV isn't much better.

Lots of other teams in the region play Freshmen that aren’t near as good as some of SV’s Fresh.
Exactly why I brought this topic up prior, I have no clue why through the season you don’t build some depth. But hey guess what, I’m not a basketball coach

SV should stay right in the path they are on. They were 8-18 the previous year with no positive outlook for the future.
They spent an entire year with a coach from East Ridge that’s only head coaching experience was from a little league program. One could argue that is why they lost some key pieces from Valley’s 8th grade championship team to Pikeville
They ended this season much improved and if we are all being honest, a team that nobody wanted to play because they could light you up on any given night. Last night they did what any young inexperienced team is capable of, looked ahead because they thought they could. It bit them but if all things stay the same and the freshmen develop into their potential they will pick up ahead of where they left off.

Well they will be returning 4 starters with 3 of them going to be seniors. You’ll have a top 3 point guard in Gavin Hamilton, a top 3 shooter in Caden Johnson, and arguably the best athlete in the region in Brady Johnson who has a year of varsity basketball under his belt. After a full offseason with Coach Taylor I look for Shelby Valley to pick up a key piece or two and should be one of the top teams in the region. But, there will be so much movement with players transferring it will be hard to say. I still stay once everything settles Shelby Valley will be contending for a district and maybe a region next year. Just my opinion tho

They get back to work.....

They need to leave Taylor alone. He can coach. I may not like some of the antics but he can coach and gets a lot out of his teams. They have some kids who can play and their coach seems to be able to get them to play hard. Caden Johnson is a really good shooter and Gavin Hamilton is a solid PG. Brady Johnson is a terrific athlete and basketball player but not the best athlete in the region. You did say arguably so there's your argument. He isn't. Very good but not the best athlete in this region. Taylor got those kids in the weight room during the offseason and they looked stronger although they need to go back in there this offseason with a purpose again. I think they will be better next year again if all the pieces stay and some kids continue to develop. If they were able to add a player, it would help even more and never know about the transfer stuff.

Regardless, they still have a lot of work to do to be able to get over the hump and I’m glad Coach Taylor is there to make sure it happens. A lot of time between now and next season.

Him, Peyton Davis, and Dylan Boyd can light you up any given night.

SV will be right in the thick of it next year. The best compliment you can give Coach Taylor is that regardless of their talent they make your life difficult every night with pure effort.

just gotta go ahead and start the consoladation and start to combine east ridge and SV and have elkhorn, millard , valley, ect as feeder schools, i dont think east ridge will be competitive for awhile and valley will always be average until they can keep kids from transfering out.

Now that its the offseason for Shelby Valley, time to see if Taylor will stick around. I hope he does.
