At the end of the day this is the best decision. Pike Central checks all the box's.

I think out of the Pike Co. schools that Pike Central is the best one, just off of 23, don't have to travel further like you would for Belfry or Valley. Also the 60th being the tournament host already played a part in it.

I am still a big proponent for having it at Prestonsburg. Did see during the live stream of the draw this morning that they voted to go back to the traditional rotation of each district hosting it, and from what I gathered, would have the option to either have it at the expo, or one of the high schools within the hosting district. So, next year will go to the 57th, and I would assume they'll have it at JC, then to the 58th and Prestonsburg will have it.

I am glad that they voted to take it out, and not to move flooding supplies out of there just to have basketball games, that's what I was worried would happen. Even tho the circumstances are terrible, I am glad that it will be in a high school environment for the first time in 20 years, and maybe it being in that environment will be the wake-up call that's been long needed to get it out of the expo permanently.

I think it seats around 5500, and next year I could definitely see Martin county hosting it out of 57th.

Martin county isn't big enough.

It’s going to the 57th and I believe the 57th will vote on Martin county.

JC host the 57th district next year plus the 57th is regional host so does JC get both or for regional another school host it

The 57th will vote on it.

This year I see the need to have it at a high school. But I think it should go back to expo after this year. But if each district does get to vote the 57th will be at Johnson Central. And I can’t see Martin county and Paintsville voting on that giving them home court advantage all through region. But you never know. The adults make all the decisions but if you ask the kids I bet more than 90% would want to play at the expo. But their opinions will never be factored into it. I guess we will just see how it goes. But I think Pike central was best option for this year because they have biggest seating capacity and best parking in region. Good luck to all teams and hopefully everyone stays injury free and hopefully we get an exciting tournament.

If I was Martin county, I would think twice about not playing it at expo. They seem to flourish quite well there.

That big floor helps with their spacing and benefits their athletic ability.   Those extra ten feet of playing space changes the game.

I’m not sure why people think attendance and school gyms being big enough is a big deal. Sure, some schools aren’t really big enough and the parking is bad, but simply just don’t have it at those schools. There are schools in each district that can accommodate. There isn’t near as many people that go to the games nowadays since they are streamed online. Many people, like myself, sit at home and watch.

Next is the argument that it’s a big venue to prepare the kids for Rupp but the expo is nothing like playing in Rupp. Two completely different animals. IMO

Agree to disagree. The expo environment is completely different than Rupp. But the part that prepares kids for Rupp Arena is the depth perception behind the goals and the length of the court. I do think that playing at a high school will give it a much more competitive environment.
