Played as an 8th grader last season on Corbin varsity and as a 7th grader on Williamsburg varsity.

He has to be one of the top freshman in the state. Akins is a big 6’3” PG with great athleticism. He is a very unselfish basketball player. He is virtually unstoppable when he is in attack mode off the dribble. He will go long periods of time without taking a shot leaving you scratching your head sometimes. I have followed him closely this year right after he had 35(huff had 49 that game)at Harlan County the first game. I think he could be another D1 kid from the 13th when its all said and done. It will be fun to watch how far akins and the rest of the youngsters at corbin can take their team. I kinda like “Red” Ryder OSH. That may catch on!

When postseason play begins I hope to see him take the damn ball to the rim often, often, OFTEN.  As you mentioned, he is tough to stop off the dribble. He has incredible floor vision and is an elite passer. So, yes, use those skills but take that ball to the hole, young man. Create and drive that rock home, Red Ryder.
