Bengals/Tee Higgins Negotiations
#1
Good chance that the team uses a non-exclusive franchise tag on Higgins.

Higgins 3 year $85M.

If I am a team I dont want him on a 5 year deal with his injury history. If he plays, hes worth every penny.

Then get chase, 5 years $180M.

Hendrickson same thing, 3 year deal and pay him, if he still good in 3 years pay him again if not move on. Kid balls out, performance speaks for itself. I think hes at $16.5M now, so 3 year $60M might take a little more.

Bengals are at the point where they have these 6-8 key guys that you just need to keep, pay them, see what happens. If it dont work out long term, then as a team you can say...look what happened last time we did that.........

Biggest Key is these players want to stay here (or at least that is how it is being portrayed) If that is the case keep them here for at least the next 3 year window or so.

The only thing that worries me about the Bengal Tiger from Oak Ridge might be made of glass. 100 mil for an aging glass tiger is risking a lot of moolah. Hope we can keep him, though.

NFL informs teams today that Cap for 2025 will be somewhere between 277M and 281M. up from $253M in 2024. So theres and extra 25M ish of cap room they have, that pays for Hendrickson, get it done.

Sign TE Gesicki to 3yr $25.5M deal. Solid 3 WR/TE really that blocks down field well, (not a Edge blocker though, dont need him to be).

This probably seals Hendrickson's fate, figured money would go to one or the other here.

This thread went pretty silent, but it's official now that the Bengals (surprisingly) signed both Chase & Higgins.

Details & numbers on both deals:

Chase: 4 years, $161 million w/ $112 guaranteed, making him the highest paid non-QB in NFL history, which was previously held by Myles Garrett for about a week.

Higgins: 4 years, $115 million, after being franchise tagged for the second year in a row, there was optimism that Higgins would look elsewhere for a huge payday, definitely glad Cincinnati was able to keep him. In terms of WR2, he is by far the highest paid now.

With these signings alongside Mike Gesicki, very doubtful now that they can re-sign Hendrickson, just don't see how they could now that you've invested close to $300 million in those 3 players. From what I've seen & read, the trade market for Hendrickson hasn't been what they thought it would be apparently, or non that have moved the needle. If there is any hope of re-signing him, I'd say he will be demanding close to $30 million a year. I'd love to see it happen to keep this core together, but if not, hopefully a good enough trade package comes along that may return us some solid players and several draft picks.

I love having Chase, Higgins and Gesicki back, when you add in Iosvias and Chase Brown as options for Joe, you have a sensational offense. But I’m afraid we will have to score 40-plus every game to win next year.

Don't forget they will still have to overcome that big obstacle to holding back a great offense---Zac Taylor. Wish they would have fired him. 0-2 / 1-3 to start the season again. Zac will dig his new millionaires a big hole to try to climb out of.

I don’t disagree. 2026 schedule hasn’t been released yet, so we don’t know how difficult the early part will be , but if we start the season 0-2, I would make the change right then. That inexcusable opening week home loss to the Patriots followed by the screw job in KC ruined this past season, we had to play catchup all year. Can’t keep happening.

Well I was close on the WR deals.

Now they have to get quality defense in the draft. Hope for a mid level defense in 2025, thats all you need with this offense.

I've been hearing this great offense crap for years but it never comes to fruition. Gotta keep Joe upright and they've donae a piss poor job of that.  Volson and Crappa...I don't think so ! Plus, Zac Taylor is the biggest liability than any offense could have. I'll believe "great offense" when I see it!!!
