Auburn 94 Alabama 85
#1
Final from Tuscaloosa.

Big game from Broome, but the Tigers had a pretty balanced attack, as 6 players scored 13+.

Alabama did not shoot the ball like they're capable. They were 5/26 from three, with Sears' 2 for 11 clip making up almost half of their attempts.

Auburn was able to jump out early and had a big part in slowing down the Crimson Tide.

Could see Alabama getting hot and beating them when they meet again in the regular season finale, but came away thinking that Auburn was a decidedly better team. They have a lot of different ways to beat you and are my pick to win the National Championship so long as they stay healthy.

We need Bruce Pearl. I despise the guy. He's as slimy and creepy as they come. But there is no doubt in my mind that he would win BIGLY here. He was made for the big stage and high pressure that fans here demand. Sure, he might get us the death penalty by the time is tenure is over but we would have a couple of big Natty trophies to remember him by. Nice guys finish ninth in the conference. Slimy guys finish first.

Know you are probably trolling, and agree that he probably could have won big at Kentucky at one point, but there's little chance of that ever happening if he wasn't a candidate this past season. He's about to turn 65 and probably retires at Auburn. Indiana is one of the few places that would make sense, but if they're going to go that route, Chris Beard is younger, has deeper ties to their program, has taken a team further, and didn't turn in another school in their region.

I prefer 9th.

I've said it since November, Auburn is the most complete team I have seen in a long time.

The one thing that's held them back in years past, even the Final 4 team was inconsistent guard play. This time around, their guard play is the catalyst for how great they are. It compliments their front court play, just so physical on defense, and offensively they're just a well-oiled machine with a lot of balance.

Bruce Pearl has had some good & great teams since being at Auburn, but this ones by far his best, if they don't win it all then it'll be a massive failure of a season.

Agree wholeheartedly with all but the massive failure part. Just really tough to win even if you have the best team, especially if the injury bug bites.

It is going to take a very good team getting hot to beat them and this is Pearl's best chance to win a title. Not saying he'll never have this type of chance again, but they lose Broome and will take a step back next season.

I watched this one,  heck of a performance by Auburn.  I was amazed by their performance,  especially on the road.  The amazement didn't last long.  I soon realized the Cat's gotta still play both of these teams!

Mark Sears, I have to believe his name is going to appear in a gambling scandal down the road.

Why do you think that?

His numbers are down, but from the looks of it, that could be explained by increased usage in fewer minutes and trying to play through some minor injuries while under immense pressure.

Am guessing you have more to it than just one game, but if it's just the Auburn game, I thought they did a really good job defending him.

To be a senior, just watching some of the bone head decisions and plays he has made this year. I'm not saying he is trying to blow games, but is he altering the spreads.  A couple weeks ago he was guilty of dribbling out the shot clock in open court in a game that really hadn't been decided.  Missing free throws, shot selection, just seems a little odd for a player of his caliber.  Again, just my opinion.
