Regional Draw/Super Region
#1
When is the draw and how exactly does the super region work?

The draw will be after all district tournaments are completed.

It was a confusing concept for a lot last season, 15th was the guinea pig last season as KHSAA is trying to implement this more around the state, I'd heard that the 2nd region may be the next to do it, but don't know how true that is.

As for the format of the tournament, if you lose in the first round of the district, then your season is over, but now it boils down to every team has a chance now, plus where the 15th has an uneven number of teams, and it's formatted to get the 8 best teams to the expo center, which actually worked last season.

Pretty much have a 6 team draw, you will have 2 byes into the next round, then the other four teams will play in the "first 4" portion of the tournament. The teams that are the higher seeds in the district tournament, will have a home regional tournament game in the next round, so the teams that are in the first 4 would possibly have to win 2 games even to get to the expo center. The teams that receive the byes will host a home regional tournament game in front of their fans, then the winners of those games will move onto the expo to start the traditional 15th region tournament.

I will say this, I wasn't a fan of this concept, but it really did get the best 8 teams in the region to the tournament last season. I'm sure there is a better, more clear way to explain it better than I did, the format isn't as confusing, but the seeding of it all can be a little hairy.

I wish there was some way to implement it into certain districts, like the 57th for example. I say this because some teams are not gonna have a chance like in no world will a second place team like Shelby valley, pburg, belfry, etc be able to beat a team that comes out of the 57th. So it kinda sucks because they don't really get a fair deal. As of now I do like the concept tho.

I was not a fan of the on paper plan but it truly showcased the best teams and I feel gave a true competitive sleight to each game.
