Impressed with Paintsville. Pikeville had an injury that really changed some things for them but Paintsville has a good team. Pikeville was better tonight but that’s two teams that can win region this year along with Martin County and JC. I think the winner comes from those 4 teams. Region will go through Paintsville and JC next season.

I didn’t get to watch this one tonight! Who was injured? I think these two teams are top contenders like you said. Gonna have to go and see if I can catch this one online tomorrow

Sykes kid from Pikeville went out in first half. Unsure if it was an ankle or knee.

Wow what a game from the Panthers. Where does this put them now?

Pikevilles defense really looked well tonight but let them get free late and almost lost it. Saw some super great offense too!

As for paintsville I thought they controlled the pace of the game but let pikeville dominate them offensively. They are definitely a region contender and a great team!

That’s a bold statement especially since it’s gonna be like the Wild West once that transfer rule passes.

Losing the Sykes kid early was huge. Pikeville was up by 13-15 range and really missed a couple open looks that could’ve put them up close to 20. Sykes gets injured and Paintsville cut the lead to 10 by the half. Then the entire second half just chipped away and chipped away. Paintsville’s press gave Pikeville some issues, even that extended zone. But Pikeville found a way to hang on in the end. Paintsville had a great look at a 3 late that could’ve tied the game. Hopeful the kid is ok and nothing serious but it didn’t look great honestly. Anyway it was a fun game to watch between two pretty evenly matched teams. I’m with the above poster in thinking the region is between Martin, JC, Paintsville and Pikeville with Pike Central being a dark horse. I realize that BL just beat Pike Central but I just don’t think BL has a kid that in theory could take over the whole tourney like Pike Central has so I’d give the nod to Pike Central as being a 5th team that could potentially win it.

Everyone has been getting by with transfers lol. I don’t see how he could be wrong though. What’s kind of crazy is that it’ll be that way for 2 years all them Johnson County studs are sophomores if I’m not mistaken.

Yeah that’s not a bold statement where the talent resides currently. Lots of stuff can happen but it would take a bunch of kids switching schools for those 2 not to be 15 region favorites next year. They will have a say this year.

I think PC is a good team and can upset someone but I don’t think they have enough offense to string together wins in the super regional format to win it all. Rely very heavily on Stewart and Hall and I think BL showed everyone the blueprint how to beat them.

Hope the Sykes kid for Pikeville is ok. I think he’s a senior and that would be a sad ending to a solid career for him.

Gotta respectfully disagree with you here Belichick, it was about this time last year the “the 15th runs through JC the next 3 years” talk started and they are a contender absolutely, but there are 3-4 others also. Kids develop, some kids waiting behind upperclassmen will emerge. 1 of those 2 very well could win it the next 2 years, but there will be other contenders I just about guarantee it.

Agree about PC’s offensive struggles and I hope Sykes is okay as well. That would be a huge blow for the Panthers, and a horribly sad way for his career to end. Praying it’s just a strain of some kind. And to the lady who yelled “you’re a dirty player that’s what you get” when he was hobbling off the court, you are a low life and karma will take care of you. He had done nothing dirty in the slightest.

Adults are the worst part of the game most of the time. It’s a shame some of the stuff you hear from the stands. It’s not just one place or fan base either it’s the majority which is the bad part.

Anyone calling Sykes dirty for that play doesn't have a brain. You could obviously tell his knee gave out when he went to jump and that's what led him into shoving that kid from Paintsville on the layup. The parent who said that needs to have their heart checked.

Hope Sykes is alright and good to go down the stretch.
