Final. A sad performance by the Cats after the Tennessee win and this made Cal's season.

Gonna be a helluva entertaining week reading social media about this one. Just saw one thread titled "I'd Trade Pope for Calipari right now." I can't wait to read material like that. The meltdown has already started.

You don't win nearly 900 games by mistake. The Hall of Famer absolutely schooled the new guy tonight with a masterclass on coaching.

One team will be playing in March when it matters, I’ll wait for you to let me know who that will be?  Great win for Cal but doesn’t change anything.  The fans got a little humbled tonight and that’s life.  But at Kentucky we keep our eye on the bigger prize, I’m glad that made Cal’s season.  That should sum up where the two programs stand.  One playing for one game and the other playing for a national title.  I like our team and I like our coach and the position we are in.  Tough road ahead and hopefully we get healthy and hungry

Invited all those guests,  went out and loaded up on all kinds of BBQ sauce,  and now the hog roast is off!

Congrats to Arkansas on the win.  I hate that we lost. Only thing to do now is move on.  In all honesty this game really meant nothing to me.  I'm just being serious.  Arkansas won,  big Whoop! Won't be Pope's last shot at Cal.  We'll be fine and hat's off to Cal on the win,  good for him.

I didn't even watch this one.  Tuned into the Parkersburg WV Toughman Contest instead.

In Arkansas first 7 SEC games this was their % from 3: 20%, 21%, 18%, 45%, 21%, 13%, 33% and 52% tonight.

Total FG% in the first 7 SEC games: 37%, 37%, 38%, 39%, 44%, 31%, 37% and 55% tonight.

Anyone who believes Kentucky is a serious contender for a national championship is probably among those who booed those three kids that played for us last year. Kentucky fans are the most  narcissistic, delusional fans anywhere in the world.

As far as where programs stand, there are 84 schools that currently have a head coach that has won at least one NCAA tournament game. The University of Kentucky is not among those  84 schools.

Kentucky fans deserved every damn slice of humble pie they got served tonight by Wagner, Thiero, Big Z, and the Hall of Famer !!!

The Hogs finally met up with a truly horrible defense tonight.  UK players couldn't guard a school crossing.

We go to Ole Miss next.  They looked pretty good today vs Auburn I thought.  Auburn won but Ole Miss was pretty physical.  It'll be another tough conference matchup.

As far as Arkansas is concerned,  I'm only against them when they play the Cat's.  I'm a UK fan first.  So even when Ol Kongs Cuz was HC for Arkansas,  I was still 100% for the Cat's!

Rasslin' delayed my watch (I can't get online for all the spoilers) but I had to hold my breath every time Perry had the ball tonight.

Arkansas shot much better than usual, but our defense probably played a hand in that. The Hogs "out-athleted" us.

Congrats to Calipari-- this is the kind of game that's defined the successful parts of his career. He came in as the villain that had nothing to lose and everyone wanted to see him go down, but he pulled it off.

I'm not going to panic though. No way Wagner goes off on us if Butler plays. Hope we meet them again in the SEC Tournament.

And there is the idiocy we all knew was coming. Arkansas averaged 6 made 3s per game in the SEC coming in and was "coached" into hitting 9 in the first half alone and 13 for the game.

You talk about "meltdown" coming, which it won't. Last year when everybody wanted Cal gone you said it was only the "17%" crazies in the fan base. This year with Pope on Feb.1 of his first season you say total meltdown. You always get it bass-ackwards and sound crazy AF doing it.

Arkansas played great and Cal was gracious after the win. No complaints here. League is an absolute monster. We have to get Butler back and hopefully Kerr too and get better.

If you'd have told me coming into the game that Butler would be out, Brea would shoot 16% from three, and Wagner would shoot over 50% from the field and three, I'd have asked how many we were going to lose by.

I don't know really any way to say this nicely but... Pope was absolutely awful tonight. He's getting excoriated online for his coaching performance. One dude even said he would trade the LD Saint straight up for the Hall of Famer right now. My Oh My ... how quickly they turn on you here in the hills and hollers of central and eastern Kentucky. Mark's biggest weakness seems to be his struggles with substitution patterns. Really, really odd, at times.

Again, it's easy to make three when you are playing a team that isn't taught , or coached , how to play defense. Defensively, for Kentucky, it's about as bad as it gets.

Bash me if you must , but this is a mediocre Kentucky team. They are capable on a given night of beating a better team but they are capable on ANY night of losing to a very bad team, like tonight.

Is this a worse lost than Oakland last season? I just watched a Big Blue podcast and all four of the KY guys doing the podcast said YES.

In the minds of a lot of Big Blue fans this was a game you simply had to win. One of the podcast dudes said this is the worst UK loss ever since he's been a fan.

No worries. lol   You know me. I tell it like it is. Greer wasn't very good. He beat up on a lot of really bad teams to pad his record. He was 1-6 during his tenure as Hound HC against really, really good competition. I think you probably remember his only win against  championship caliber competition. And he came within one incomplete pass in the endzone of losing that one.

Jack Pilgrim and Drew Franklin of KSR ripping Pope's coaching performance. Pilgrim said it appeared like that the moment was too big for Pope.

You think quoting idiots makes you sound smart. Again, it's the opposite. Not surprised you don't know the difference in a Feb 1 SEC loss and getting knocked out of the NCAA tournament and having your season ended by a community college. Nobody is that stupid, you have to be play-acting.

Reed Sheppard tweeted out this picture tonight from Houston.  Big Blue fans are already spitting venom in Reed's direction.  Reed was showing support for his college coach who helped make him a multi-millionaire. UK fans are saying, How dare you, TRAITOR !?!?! "

This might be the greatest night of my life before it's all over. Big Blue crazies cannibalizing their own. LMAO

We just lost to Arkansas.

Arkansas a team that plays in a power conference.

Arkansas a program with a national title to it's credit.

Arkansas a program that made the national title game two years in a row.

Arkansas a program rich in NIL funding.  With the likes of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones tossing huge NIL dollars their way.

Arkansas a program rich in tradition.

Oakland a program ninety some percent of the earth's population had never heard of.

Oakland a program ninety some percent of the earth's population still thought was in California, until after bouncing us out of the tournament last year.

Point being,  getting bounced from the NCAA tournament by Oakland last year,  was way worse than losing to Arkansas tonight.

The one thing I didn’t like from this game was booing the former players. I don’t like booing college players period unless they are pulling off Grayson Allen-style shenanigans. I thought all three of those guys played their ass off for us last year, don’t boo them for doing what basically our whole roster has done, which is transferred. The play of the game was Big Z’s deep three late in the shot clock after we had cut it to six and the momentum was shifting in our favor. But it’s fine, just a regular season loss in a monster conference. My hope is we can survive the first weekend in March, can’t see us going much deeper than that unless we get completely healthy. Now, anybody that said this was a worse loss than Oakland or St. Peter’s is just an idiot that has some deep seated hatred for Calipari.

This is exactly what I said earlier in the season and I got hammered by a lot of people so I stopped posting. I like Pope and this team but they are not great. Bad defense, bad ,rebounding, and if Butler is out no one to run the floor. when hitting Threes can beat anybody when they’re not they can get beat by anybody. They also beat themselves at the foul line last night, and way too many unforced turnovers. Noah Perry and Chandler have no business being on the floor when Butler is hurt We are in trouble. I think it’s amazing What he did in three months and people are way too hard on him. Can’t wait to see what he does when he has time to get his own players in there after a year or two of recruiting definitely was not one of his better coaching games last night, do not understand why he did not try to get the ball inside more often.

I'm not surprised you don't understand that UK lost to a community college team because DJ Wagner scored  0 points  and the London Golden Boy scored 3 points and played scared all night.   If DJ Wagner had played with one-tenth of the motivation he played with last night against UK, KY would have scorched Oakland and probably had a real shot at reaching the Final Four.

That is not comforting BBN much, though.  The KSR guys were critical of Reed's wardrobe malfunction. Said it wouldn't have been  as bad if it had been a UK shirt and Arkansas shorts. Saw one hillbilly post that that said Reed should never come back to Kentucky. I wonder how well thought out this was by young Sheppard ? He had to know that this would piss off BBN to the nth degree. Seems a bit of a middle finger he was giving to Big Blue fans for essentially running off the head coach that made him rich. Good for you, young Sheppard boy. I love your bravado and your loyalty to your ex-coach. Classy touch, young man.
