Bell County 79 Harlan County 65
#1
Final

Maddox Huff has 31, and 17 points in the 2nd quarter with 5 threes. Burnett has 29 with at least 20 in the second half. Buell has 19. Bell won the glass and lead by as many as 18 at the end after being down as many as 12 before half. If both these teams are ranked in the top 25 across all the polls next monday, it’s ridiculous.

aren’t, oops lol. Yall know what I mean. The 13th region has 2 teams who are undoubtedly top 25 if not top 20.

I figured that's what you meant lol. Sounds like it was a fun game. Two really good teams.

Both teams are good basketball teams.  And still, it could be Corbin and South Laurel playing for the 13th region title. That's how talented and balanced the region is this season.  If Corbin doesn't win it, I hope Bell does. I really like their team.

Hats off to Bell and coach Davis, they played well and shot lights out. Bell shot 62% from 3 (13-21) which is unheard of and shot 82% (18-22) from the field overall in the 2nd which is also unheard of. I don’t think that will happen again this year, much less against HC, but Bell is a very solid team and will have to be dealt with come district and region tourney time! I still like HC’s chances on a neutral floor come tourney time, A couple of HC’s starter were considerably less than 100% also for this game so buckle up for at least 2 more games between these two teams this year and maybe 3….

It was the law of numbers really. I’ve always wanted Bell to try and run with Harlan County especially now that Noah is gone and go away from the traditional Sizemore hold the ball strategy. On the year they have 3 starters who shoot the three over 49% and all have over 60 attempts. That is unheard of, so shooting 13-22 isn’t unheard of just the amount of attempts. This is the most threes they have shot all year, so they hit the most. Only made a little high percentage than their team averages, but attempted more. For instance they attempted 10 in the last HC game, and made 5.

The 18-22 was really complimented by the 9-9 in the 4th quarter, but most of the shots in the 4th were layups cause they slowed it down some once they got up 8 in the 4th quarter. What i think is unheard of and off the charts is Maddox Huff making 5-5 threes on 6 possessions in the 2nd quarter. That’s a lot more statistically significant imo.

I think I can say that over the course of 21 games, this is the best shooting team in the region without a doubt, and is making it hard to not say the state in general.

Best shooting team in the state ?? That’s raising the bar to the moon for your team sir!!! Not sure that’s the wisest thing for you to do, but have at it if that’s what you believe…… They got a good win over a really good HC team, but there is a whoooole lot of basketball left to be played so let’s see how things go in 3 days at HC where HC has been known to shoot lights out on occasion also and then later we will get to see how these teams shoot the ball at Harlan City’s gym in district play and down at the Arena in region play…… I don’t believe Bell has established themselves as the top team in the region or the best shooting team in state after beating HC for the first time in a while….

They are second behind Bowling Green for 3pt Percentage in the state with slightly more attempts, so i retract my statement. Currently the 2nd best three point shooting team in the state. But Bowling Green doesn’t have 3 starters over 45% with over 50 attempts like bell does, not including Burnett. BG has one elite shooter and then consistent shooters between 35-40% that get limited attempts. To be completely honest, I think the two best shooting teams in the state are Harlan County and Bell County. Harlan County has 5 guys who can make it at a pretty good rate, and then of course huff the best player in the region who can make legit anything. Bell County has 3 who don’t miss if they see the rim, and then another who can stripe it fairly consistently in burnett. Have to give Harlan County credit where it’s due, if any team shoots it better than Bell it’s them or Boyd County. But statistically it’s not raising the bar to the moon if you are already number 2.
