Convincing win for Paintsville.. Woods and Cole just had their way with FC in the paint tonight plain and simple..congrats Tigers.. Jags will bounce back..

Extremely impressed with Paintsville tonight. They controlled the tempo all night and just dominated FC in the paint. FC had no answer for Woods and Cole on the offensive glass. They have the most size in the region with Woods, Cole, and Kinner so you've got to speed the tempo of the game up.
I would love to know what the gameplan was for FC tonight. It seemed like whoever had the ball just went 1v1 on every possession. Very little ball movement or sets run tonight.

It was a whooping. I’m impressed with the fundamental play of Paintsville. They aren’t flashy, just solid. They rebound well, defend well and don’t make many mistakes. Very good basketball team.

Paintsville may be the 3rd best team in the region behind Martin and Pikeville. Heck may even be number 1 or 2. They are well balanced meaning they have multiple players who can go off for 25 any night. Would like to see them play BL.

Very good basketball team. From watching the game on wmdj seems to be like they are very discipline didn’t make very many turnovers and crashed the boards. I think FC will bounce back from this one. Woods was just a man with little boys in there Fc was outsized tonight and it showed on rebounds. Like I said FC will bounce back from this loss tonight and get back at it tomorrow night vs Campbell County. Fc is a good team just let them figure out their roles and they will succeed. They shot the 3 ball better tonight that’s a plus.

We are just not shooting the ball very well right now and not playing well together. I still think we have the team to win this district but right now we are not close. Paintsville is a regional title contender

Thought Logan Meade had a good offensive game tonight by getting to the rim.

I think BL gets beat by 10+ to this Paintsville team. Paintsvilles guards play good perimeter defense and nobody at BL is playing with paintsvilles post players. BL matches up pretty well with FC tho.

Paintsville looked impressive right out the gate, even tho the game was back & forth for most of the 1st qtr, they started to widen the gap same midway through the 2nd and led by 9 at half. They really started to get it going in the 3rd, they never got in any sort of hurry, played w/ a ton of poise and discipline, especially on the defensive end, had their way offensively, constant movement and the ball wasn't getting stuck, some great sets ran by coach Slone to get his guys good looks and put them in good positions. Cole & Woods are going to be an absolute problem for teams, they both cleaned up on the boards last night, and Cole was just having his way down low, got whatever he wanted, those 2 are going to be the focal points for Paintsville, with a solid supporting cast around them as well. I've said it before, Martin Co & Central are going to get all the attention & publicity, but watch out for Paintsville, well coached, and could not just make noise come tournament time, but could win the whole thing.
Floyd Central just struggled mightily, especially as the game wore on, Boyd got going early scoring 8 points and knocking down a couple of 3/s, but he was quiet after that. Second half Floyd Central really struggled offensively, mainly just iso & hero ball trying to get back in the game, terrible possessions, it was Spriggs dribbling too much and forcing it, he struggled all night, and just the other 4 camped out on the perimeter watching him, didn't crash the boards, no energy at all. Logan Meade tried to provide a spark late in the 2nd half, deficit was just too much but I really enjoy watching him play, he plays hard and leaves it all out there. Buck is already a heck of a freak athlete, when it hones it all in and figures out how to use it, he will be one of the best players in the region down the road.
Great win for Paintsville, they're playing some great basketball right now. Floyd Central will need to have a short memory after this one, as they play Campbell Co tonight at Paintsville, a part of the city between the Lakes classic. Campbell Co made the elite 8 of the State Tournament last year, will not be an easy task for the Jags.

Coach Slone is a very good coach and always seems to get the most out of his players and seems to have a solid team every year no matter how much talent he has to work with. Paintsville can beat anyone. Paintsville likes to get out and run, but will also slow it down and run some good sets to get their scorers open. This team is very fundamentally solid as they don’t seem

to make a lot of mistakes and seems like everyone on the court for them is willing to make the extra pass and find open shots. When you play man against Paintsville they will bully ball you in the paint with their good bigs and if you try to go zone they seem to always get either an open layup or 3 out of it. I’m very high on this Paintsville team. I believe that if Paintsville plays to their potential they will be playing at Rupp Arena in March. This is a completely different team than what they were last year. You can see the difference for those sophomores that have played since 8th grade. It pays off.

Everyone said I was crazy when I said Paintsville was a top 3 team in the 15th. I truly believe this solidifies that. If Martin County has lost Maynard for a long period of time (what I'm hearing doesn't sound good), then Paintsville wins the district and its between them and Pikeville. This young core will only continue to get better.
HOWEVER, my only concern with Paintsville is the college floor at the Expo hurting them with the bigs being able to run and keep up. It will be interesting for sure.

@averagejoe01 I'd be in the same boat as you saying don't sleep on Paintsville, don't get the attention that their district counterparts are getting and have gotten, that's the way they like it tho, but if they keep playing great, consistent basketball, it's going to put everyone on notice, but coach Slone is as prepared of a coach that there is in the Region, and there's no doubt he will still have his team prepared, and playing hard despite the attention.

Floyd central got a long way to go before considering them a district title contender. Right now Lawrence co and Betsy Layne are my two favorites. Unless Chris spriggs can motivate them to wake up early to hit the gym and work on cardio, shooting, weight training ?there won’t be much they can do about their current situation.
