Phillip Hawkins Named Football Coach at Henry Clay
#1
It is official he was named last night as the new head coach at Henry Clay. The Bryan Station job was posted this morning.
#2
Coach did a great job at Bryan Station. Got a chance to speak with him for a good bit last season. Really nice guy. Best of luck to him.
#3
Maybe he wanted to move the other 6A district and not have to keep facing Douglass for the district title. He has had very good teams the past 3 seasons, but Douglass still won all 3 of those games. The district Clay plays in the 4 teams last season had a combined record of 14-28. While the other district had a combined record of 28-22.

Hawkins and BS we’re never afraid to play anyone across the state when he had the guys to compete. He was blessed with a very talented class that he did a lot with. HC will have a weaker schedule which will allow him to build some momentum.
Also... Frederick Douglas didn't seem like the force of Lexington this season based on scores... can Hawkins find away to lure some of the city talent to HC?

Not sure exactly what made you think that they lost 5 games yes but to to 6A champ Trinity 2 of the other top 3 or 4 teams in 6A Manuel and Male and 4A powers Boyle.

As far as Lexington is concerned only Station (District game) and Tate’s Creek will play them.
This year they played 3 Lexington schools and running clocked two of them and beat Bryan station by 18. They ruining clocked Tates Creek 50-14 Dunbar 42-0 and Bryan Station 24-6. Plus now in 8 seasons they have yet to lose to any school public or private in Fayette County.

You couldn’t combine PLD, TC, HC and beat FD… so beating them or them not playing FD isn’t something to brag about.
FD probably loses 2 more games this season if they don’t get the recruit from Taylor County and the late addition from Ohio.

I love how everyone thinks that Douglass is the only team in the state that kids come to play for. It is hilarious that everyone says that. In case you are not sure the Bryan Station coach called the as you call him the recruit from Taylor Co. every night for two weeks and several days after he had already enrolled at Douglass. The kid from Ohio parents sold their house earlier than they thought and ask Coach Stoops where there son should play.

;)FCSPYThere is your Douglas history lesson for the day!!! HAHAHA...

You can call it a history lesson or whatever you want but it is 100% truth. If it was a true history lesson, I would have given the current numbers after now 8 complete season of the Frederick Douglass Football Program which is 34-0 vs. the other 5 Fayette Co. Public Schools and 36-0 vs. all-schools in Fayette Co.  ;)

I am actually a Douglas fan, but let's not forget the rabid cheating that the program and a few of its coaches have Been Caught doing!!! They did it and then some, so this comes with the territory!! can't be sensitive about it! ?

I'm sorry I don't remember them ever had any problems or penalties put on them by the KHSAA association. I just find it strange that people bring up Smith coming to Douglass from Taylor Co. as it is recruiting and as I said the Station coach was calling his home daily and even after he enrolled at Douglass but no one says anything about Washington coming from GRC and rushed for over 1600 yards and 19 touchdowns. I guess that is okay I guess Douglass is fortunate that he did not come to Douglass it is hard telling what everyone would have said about that.

no one is saying FD is the only one guilty… just pointing out the situations where they have been guilty.
it’s ok to admit it happened… happens everywhere. Just don’t pretend your program is guilty of if.

That may be true but for some reason none of the others are ever mentioned on here. There may be 1 for every 5 or more about Douglass. Frederick Douglass due to 1) their success and 2) their ability to get kids scholarships at the next level most of the kids that come to Douglass now reach out and ask to come and not the other way around. I know for a fact that was the case with Smith from Taylor Co. but Station was the one continuing to call him trying to get him to come there instead of to Douglass. I was actually in the room when he and his parents told this.
