Pikeville Girls Fall to 0-3
#1
Is now the time to start worrying about the Lady Panthers? Pikeville has fell to Ashland, Boyd Co, and South Laurel.

Those are 3 very good teams, though. No shame in losing to talented teams.

Should have started worrying the day they let Orem go.

I figured Pikeville would take a step back under Denise Campbell.

Wouldn’t have mattered who the coach is they had to take a step back. Losing 4-5 seniors with 2 D1 guards that one is starting and other is getting significant minutes with there teams. Pikeville will be fine.

Losing several good starting seniors hurts. Ms Campbell will have to take on a younger team and mold them into a better lady panther team. She did well as a softball coach and I feel she'll do well.

I will miss coach Orem. She cared hard for those kids, inspired and challenged them off season to higher playing standards through the weight room and extra practice.

Like Jelly Roll said though, Pikeville will be fine.

Most people would say Pikeville is a veteran team age wise compared to South. If KHSAA roster is correct they have an uncommonly young squad.

They lost a lot, and had a TOUGH early schedule. Too early to freak out.

Lost an excellent coach as well. Any reason why she stepped aside or did she retire all together.

Rumor has it, the people that had her forced out do not even attend the school anymore. Sad.

Sad part of sports these days.

Orem was a great coach, but even she wouldn't have a better record. Unfortunately, this will be a long year for Pikeville. The talent is very young and inexperienced this year. You got 2 players that could start for other teams and thats it. Open up that NIL and get Some free passes to Sams Hotdogs Pikeville!

Which 2 girls? Pikeville is inexperienced and it will take some time.

Alvin and Lin could play and/or start for several teams in the 15th. The others are very inexperienced. At least in my opinion lol

Jackson started last year and they had Kidd who also had a lot of minutes before leaving last week.

I'm not disputing any of that lol. Everyone is bashing the coaching for losses I'm just saying that they are very young and not as talented as in recent years. To my knowledge only 2 of their starting 5 could start at other schools. This is a experienced talent problem not a coaching problem

Big lost for pikeville in losing Shyla Kidd. What’s going on with them? I’ve heard coaching and it’s just players. Is it because they are very young and not experienced? Which is a good reason.
#19
Kidd loss will be turmoil somewhere else’s all I’m goin say.
#20
Losing Kidd will hurt them a little bit IMO, but not much. Especially since they have Alvin, Jackson, and Lin. Also, they have some young talent in Duncan to replace Kidd.
#21
Wow looks like the panthers have met owen. I think by tournament time they will have it all figured out.
#22
Pikeville has played 3 solid basketball teams but they have to value the basketball better the rest of the season. Way too many turnovers. The Lady Panthers have to get rolling better on offense, which will happen when the turnovers quit. When the guards quit turning it over and some shots start falling the Lady Panthers will start winning games.

They can’t rebound, woods has been out for 2 games and she’s a usually a board beast and an interior threat, she’s also a great stretch and shot blocker, really just need for practice as team chemistry is off but they should be able to bounce back with the Karlea Stanley transfer happening soon

Stanley will not be transferring to pikeville. Quit spreading false news.

Not false, she’s trying to transfer not sure if pikeville is going to let her though

I heard she was pressured to by her players. They said she was being too harsh on them. Just what I heard.

I heard kidd left because she was skipping practice and was getting mad when she didn’t start. Sounds very lazy to me.

She didn’t want it bad anyway. She was skipping practice.

Very true, Kidd was a good player but nothing out of the ordinary for pikeville.
