Franklin County absolutely deserves their #2 ranking. They've been excellent and their coaching staff is superb. However, I think Paducah and Corbin are the two best teams left in 4A. I believe the game Friday will determine the state champion.

RPI has its issues as we all know
But it’s a difficult situation with rankings at the end of the regular season with 4 teams unbeaten.
At this point the only real thing that matters is who hoists the trophy.

My concern about Franklin is their schedule was not that strong. Cov Cath had strong non conference games and are battle tested.

I don’t know how you can determine if Paducah is that good or not. Yea they have put up great numbers, but their schedule is awful. Corbin well tested and I have to go with them over Paducah until they can prove they can beat a good team

I guess I'll say this where everyone can see it. Corbin played the best game I have seen them play against Ashland last Friday night. Now I had my boy with me and he is a former Redhound and we talked about it on the way home, he doesn't say much but one thing for sure, he said what I was thinking after seeing it with my own eyes, He said Dad, they look good! I said that team is playing Championship Football and at the right time. All I can say is film don't lie. Watch the film. In a season you might see 1 big hit, but in that game, I promise it seemed to be every few plays and I was like dang son, did you see that, and that one and that one and I didn't count but they were alot of big hits and I was starting to feel somewhat sorry for Ashland. But like I told him, Ashland is a very good football team. Corbin just looked way better. So Corbin probably deserved to move up to the 2 spot and possibly the 1 spot after that performance. They put a running clock on a East Powerhouse who beat Johnson Central. But to clarify a little, its the fact that the offense was already on fire all season and getting better game by game. The defense did not look like the same defense I saw against Frederick Douglass, they looked way better. So after I got asked a bunch later than night, I repeated over and over, Im telling you, they looked the part.
Now to make sure for the Paducah Tilghman crowd and Franklin County crowd, I have watched film, streams and because of the RPI and being undefeated and the respect left those teams in the top 2 spots because they have not lost and have won by a large margin like they should be and after watching film, they are legit. Now Paducah Tilghman by some in other polls has had them inside the top couple of teams in their rankings all year long. So I think Friday nights game is good for two reasons, it will not only validate Paducah Tilghman or either way it will validate Corbin. Also Franklin County will have the same type game to either put Covington Catholic back to Northern Kentucky or Covington Catholic may be the most underrated team in the state and also playing Championship Football at the right time. 4A is just tuff. I can only imagine how unpredictable it will be next year.
Now, I got asked about Boyle, so here it is openly where you all can read it. This was a major upset. No other way to put it. Im still reading all the nonsense on the other threads. But no matter how you look at it, Boyle by the stats is still the top team in the state and by the numbers but they did lose. So in fairness to all the teams still playing in Class 4A you have to move forward and let Boyle drop as the other gains. So even after season most likely if we ran the stats, Boyle would be the top team. So no way to please everyone with rankings so the only place I figured would be fair was to drop them to the 5th spot behind Covington Catholic who upset them. Now Paducah Tilghman and Franklin County has earned the top 2 spots, they are undefeated and hasnt lost. Corbin lost 1 game to who I have ranked in my own Top 25 the number 3 team being Frederick Douglass. I watched the game in person and feel like from then to now, Corbin looks way different on Defense. But when 1 team puts a running clock on a powerhouse 4A team and the other team takes a loss and gets upset, not much you can do. Then Covington Catholic, all you can say is wow. What a performance to beat the undisputed best team in the state. They flat out done it. But the next 2 games will no doubt sort it all out in our rankings. But if we would not have been wrong to leave Boyle anywhere from 2 spot, 3 spot or 4 spot. Honestly by the numbers like I said above, they have the numbers as the top team in Kentucky. I couldn't have picked against Boyle no matter who they played, any team. I will say the comment from the Boyle poster was right, you can make a statement like a bold prediction after Boyle loses. But the one game I thought might been closer than anyone would admit was the Boyle/Corbin game if it were to happen. Corbin has the QB that until you see him in person, you cant game plan against him that good, he is a threat running or throwing. I think this year, he has ice water running through his veins and a QB who is cool under pressure is one hard QB and offense to stop. So I thought myself it would have been a way closer game than what I first thought earlier in the season.

Good post! I agree. Earlier in the year, after Corbin lost to Douglass, I felt like a hypothetical Corbin-Boyle game would be about 49-14 Boyle. After watching Corbin just suck the life out of a very good Ashland team and with Boyle struggling to stop a CC team that had almost no offense at all against Johnson Central, I think the Corbin-Boyle game would have been a dandy.
The Corbin team that I watched Friday night would have given Boyle all they wanted, and I LOVED this year's Boyle team. I just think they peaked a bit too early and Corbin peaked at just the right time. A few weeks ago I would not have given Corbin a 2% chance to go into Boyle and win. After last week, I would have given them a solid chance to get the win. Sadly, we will never know. I was hoping to get to see that game.

good post above... FC, had no way of knowing Southwestern and Scott co, l and GRC, would be considered not good games in the schedule when made. LCA was a good close win, and I think the flyers are twice the team since. But like all the teams left in 4a, they have to prove it.

had Buddy Collins not got injuried in the Scott county game I think it would of anyone’s game. Hard to rebound from your best player getting hurt on his first snap of the ball game.
