Typically, the party in power loses seats in midterm elections.
What will Democrats do to pick up seats in 2026? What will the Trump administration do to hang on to their majorities?

My prediction is that Democrats will run more moderates in 2026 and try to recapture some votes that their radical left wing agenda cost them in 2024.
Trump will partner with New York Democrats and make dropping the city's crime rate and ridding the city of criminal illegal aliens one of his top priorities. He will also attack the same issues in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland. He will get the cooperation of state and local Democrats by withholding federal funding if necessary. He will also attack the homeless problem in the same cities.
If Trump's programs are successful, then Republicans should chip away at Democrat majorities in those states.
The wildcard in 2026 will be the economy. Republicans may be able to retain control of Congress in the face of a mild recession, but a deep recession will cost them control.
New York City is the key. Trump knows New Yorkers and they know him. They will give him a shot at fixing the city's problems.

I think he has an uphill battle in New York. And nothing about it is political or logical. It boils down to personal vendettas and there appears to be a lot of those going around.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams defended Trump against the Hitler and fascist smears of Kamala Harris. NYC is paying $500/night for hotel rooms for illegals and Adams has been putting them on buses headed back to Texas. I don't think Adams likes having to deal with the messes that former Mayor de Blasio left him.
Don't forget that Trump held at least two very successful rallies in NYC during the 2024 campaign, with no real hope of winning the state. I think he can drive a wedge between his political enemies and Democrats fed up with the crime and filth that de Blasio left in his wake.

It depends on whether Democrats want to start listening to their voter blocks or letting the socialist side of their party continue to try and shove ideas down everyone’s throats….If Old School’s persistence is any indication of what’s gonna happen the Dems are toast….

I agree with Hoot on this one. I go to NYC every year and it is turning into a shithole. It has really accelerated the last four years and people are sick of it. Dems 100% responsible.
You have corrupt hacks like Hochul James and Bragg but regular folks don't hate Trump. The MSG rally is a good indicator, capacity crowd with tens of thousands more outside and only a few people showed up to protest.
Trump can do a ton for NYC and most of the citizens will be on board.

He has screwed over so many New Yorkers over the years with his scamming and not paying his bills. That's why they can't stand him. Running scams like Trump University and not paying people who did work for him has not endeared him to a lot of New Yorkers.

What I predicted would happen in New York City is already taking shape and Trump is still more than two months away from assuming office. Mayor Adams refused to criticize Trump during a press conference yesterday. As he explained, he is the mayor of all New Yorkers and many of them agree with and voted for Trump. He is sending hints that he is ready to cooperate with Trump's agenda of deporting illegals and tackling the homelessness issue.

It seems as if he was smart enough to see that a Trump victory was coming, when others were predicting that Kamala was going to win 300+ electoral votes.(11-13-2024, 10:06 AM)Hoot Gibson Wrote:Trump and Adams are like birds of a feather...(11-12-2024, 06:14 PM)Old School Hound Wrote:You are so out of touch with current events and political news, it is scary.(11-12-2024, 10:20 AM)Granny Bear Wrote: I think he has an uphill battle in New York.
