Dunbar at Frederick Douglass 11/7
#1
The Bulldogs of Dunbar (1-8) make the trip across town to take on the Broncos of Frederick Douglass (6-4) in the opening round of the 2024 Class 6A 2024 UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals at "The Farm". This game is scheduled for a Thursday night 11/7 with a 6:30pm kickoff.

Dunbar comes into this one with their only win being a 48-7 win on Sept. 13 vs. Shelby Co. They were 0-3 in district play and 0-4 in play vs. other 6A schools. They scored 156 points in their 9 games while allowing 256 points. The Broncos were 3-0 in district play and 4-3 vs. other 6A schools their 3 losses were to RPI #1 ranked Manual 38-35 in OT, #3 ranked Trinity 23-13, and #5 ranked Male 31-28. Dunbar did play district 7 #1 seed Tates Creek tough before falling 25-21. The Broncos were undefeated again for the 2nd straight season in 6A district 8 play. The Bronco program have not lost a regular season district game for the past 7 seasons now their last regular season district loss was in the first year as a program to Scott Co.

The Broncos are 5-0 all-time vs. the Bulldogs with all 5 games being running clocks and having a combined score of 260-35. The last meeting was in 2022 with Douglass winning 54-7. I see no reason this game won't end up as the previous 5 games have. The streak as it is referred to in Lexington for the Broncos football program vs. the other 5 Lexington schools stands at 33-0 and 35-0 vs. all schools in Lexington. This game is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7th with a 6:30pm kick as mandated by FCPS for games involving FCPS. The game will be on NFHS Network I am not sure if it will be on any other streaming sites. I will update if there are any others.

If 10% of what I have heard is true with Dunbar you wonder why they even have a program at all.

Doulgass leads Dunbar 35-0 at the half it was a running clock at about the midway point of the 2nd quarter.

Douglass scores again with the reserves with just under 2 minutes left to play and now lead the Bulldogs 42-0.
