Corbin's weak district schedule of Letcher County Central (Calpreps #88)Perry County Central (#93), and Whitley County (Calpreps #98) is not going to help their chances of avoiding a 3rd round game with Boyle County. If Johnson Central beats Ashland, it will be interesting to see how the RPI treats the Redhounds. Covington Catholic is also stuck playing in an even weaker district than Corbin, but they close with weak 6A team, Campbell County.

If that happens, how close will the score be? Who do you think will win?

My guess is they will meet in the semi finals.  I hope not but IMO if all 3 teams win out it will be 1. Franklin, 2. Boyle, and 3 PT.   Calloway and Russellville will be RPI killers for PT.

Paducah Tilghman should be able to give them a good game.

Boyle County will probably win, but with Jack James at QB and the skill players PT has, it could be closer than the experts think in the 4th qtr.

Redhounds will be the 2 seed in the East or at worst 3 seed. So how do you think Corbin will play Boyle. Boyle will end up the top seed in the East. If All teams win out with no losses.

Not close. Boyle boat races them. I think Paducah is probably the only 4A team that potentially stays within 3-4 TDs of Boyle.

Smile I do not see any other 4A team beating Johnson Central with that offense steam rolling honestly. I think Ashland is the mystery for me, they have to win against JC at home but thats a tall task. It takes a heck of a defense to beat that run game and I just didn't think JC was healthy last season when they played. So no shade at Ashland but they have to win against JC to prove other wise. So Covington Catholic is not like last years CC team. I got Johnson Central myself in the 4 seed only because of their RPI. Its a good thing there isn't a tournament setting like old times. I would hate to see that JC machine again if I were Corbin.  Woah

what do you the make up Pulaski Co. game will do to Corbin's RPI at the end of the season?
I think that was a good move on Salmons part myself. No matter the outcome of the season, let the boys play football first and then if Corbin can win the game and I do think they will, that game will give Corbin some much needed RPI points and may end up having Corbin at Home in the 3rd Round and who knows, maybe a 4th round home game. I was happy to see that game put back on the schedule. Good for both teams.

I didn't say that Corbin might play Boyle County in the third round. If Pulaski upsets Corbin at home, Johnson Central beats Ashland and Covington Catholic, then I'm not sure how the RPI rankings would stand. That's a lot of ifs, and I think Ashland will be favored at home over JC and Covington Catholic will probably be favored over either Ashland or JC. Obviously, Corbin will be favored over Pulaski at home, but Pulaski has made impressive improvements during the season.

Woah
Johnson Central has dominated the series with Ashland since Matney was named JC head coach. I believe the series is 18-3 in JC's favor. The record is a bit deceiving because several games were very competitive and won in the last couple of minutes of the game. Ashland usually plays JC tough, especially at Putnam. (One of Ashland's home wins was on a disputed FG call.) I hope that you are right about JC's offense, but Ashland's coaches have played JC twice every year during which they have been in the same district, so they know what to expect. It is very unlikely that JC will match its offensive output against Corbin when they play Ashland.

Covington Catholic is also stuck playing in an even weaker district than Corbin, but they close with weak 6A team, Campbell County.

Johnson Central doesn't have to worry about it. They can watch Corbin from home, because they're done.

If any team is done, it is Whitley County. I thought you said that they were a team on the rise. They must have really been bad if what they are doing is rising. For a guy supporting the 98th ranked team in the state (not that there's anything wrong with that), you sure make a lot of stupid comments about Johnson Central.  Big Grin

If Corbin wins out, who are we thinking will be their likely opponent in round 3, and potentially, round 4 ?

Im not going to crunch the numbers but its most likely Covington Catholic or Ashland in Corbin. If not Corbin at Covington Catholic or Ashland.  IMO just glancing. Because I think JC wins the Ashland Game then they will be the 4th Seed in the East I think and play Boyle. But I may be wrong, just a glance, but we will know soon enough. Time is flying and Week 7 is about to become Week 8 in a blink of an eye.  Smile Ashland may beat Johnson Central and then it could be a cause and effect that changes a lot. Lots of good games either way that are meaningful and Ashland could say, we are rewriting the East. We will know in 2 weeks.

I’ll guarantee that if Ashland beats Johnson Central, Ashland will get noticed.
