The Frederick Douglass Broncos (3-3) take the short trip down I-75 to take on the Madison Central Indians (5-1). This is not the same Madison Central team of the past few years this team is much improved as their record indicates with wins over Johnson Central, Lexington Catholic, Great Crossing, and Pulaski Co. as well as an expected win over Madison Southern. Their only loss was to Scott County.
The Indians are led on offense by senior running back Bryant Matthis who so far this season has rushed for just under 700 yards and 9 touchdowns. Their QB is sophomore Carson Herbst who has threw for over 500 yards and 7 touchdowns. Their defense is only allowing 19 points per game while their offense is averaging just under 30 points per game.
The Broncos are coming off a hard fought 3 point loss 31-28 to Louisville Male this past Friday night. The Broncos have 3 losses to Trinity, Manual, and Male with wins over Bowling Green, Corbin and Tates Creek. Douglass strength is their running game and defense. Their running game is done through a stable of good backs including Peyton Smith, Tae Tae Allen, Dakari Talbert, and Pharo Watts. They also have one of the best receivers and return player in the state in Aveion Chenualt. Douglass is allowing 20.3 points per game while averaging 31.3 points per game.
Douglass leads the series all-time 3-0 outscoring the Indians 111-29. I look for this game to be much closer and Douglass will need to forget the tough loss to Male or they could get surprised by the Indians. I don't see that happening I think Douglass wins by 15-20 in this one.

Mad centrals run game will be a dud against the strong Douglass defense. Expect a score similar to their loss to Scott county

Douglass leads Madison Cent. 7-0 early in the 2nd quarter.
Madison Central turns a Douglass fumble into 7 points and they tie the Broncos at 7 with just over 5 minutes left in the first half.
The game is tied at the half. The Broncos is lucky to be tied at the end of the half the Indians had an apparent touchdown ruled a fumble recovered by Douglass at the goal line.

Douglass gets a touchdown on their 2nd possession of the 2nd half on a 38 yard run by Peyton Smith to led the Indians 14-7 with 1:20 left in the 3rd quarter.
Douglass scores on in 22-yard run by Tay Tay Allen to put the Broncos up now 21-7 Broncos with 11:07 to play.
The Indians answer back with a touchdown to make it now 21-14 Douglass with 8:46 to play.
Strautman throws an interception and the Indians have the ball at the Bronco 38 yard line with just over 7 minutes to play.
Madison Central picks up a first down on a 4th and 8 and have it first and goal at the Bronco nine with under 6 minutes left in the game.
The Bronco defense holds and get a turnover on downs on a 4th and goal from the 8. Douglass takes over at their own 2 yard line and need one first down to seal this one.
Douglass gets a late interception by Cionne Conn to seal the win 21-14.
