Martin County vs Prestonsburg. Thoughts?

Prestonsburg definitely have the momentum. But I think it stops this Friday. Cards 42-18

Martin Co. will be the best team the Blackcats have played this season. This P-burg teams seems to be improving each week. If these two had played in week one or week two, the Cardinals would have been big winners. Now, I see the Blackcats winning if they clean up the penalties, continue to improve and take care of the ball.

Pulling for my buddy’s team Pburg but I can see Matin County winning

If you're Prestonsburg, you have to stop Maynard. He's responsible for 24 of the 26 touchdowns Martin County has scored on the season. Maynard is a deadly runner, but he's raw as a passer. He's thrown 9 interceptions to 9 touchdowns, his completion percentage is 46%. As a runner he's responsible for 75% of Martin County's rushing yards on the season. It's safe to say he's by far their best player and if you can contain him and make him uncomfortable, it bolds well for the Blackcats.
Prestonsburg has to continue to play their game. No turnovers, limit penalties, prevent big plays, and don't break on defense. Big concern for me might be on special teams. Prestonsburg has to play more disciplined on kickoff and they cannot kick the ball to Maynard, Stafford, Watts, etc. They kicked one deep to one of BL's best playmakers and he housed it with ease. That CANNOT happen this week or in any game going forward. May have to change up the personnel also to prevent long returns this week.
I like how Prestonsburg matches up and I hope the Blackcat faithful turns out again to have another rocking atmosphere. District championship is on the line in this game. Whoever wins, locks up the #1 seed and homefield advantage the first two rounds of the playoffs. Also, if Prestonsburg wins, it continues to boost their RPI and may land them a opportunity to host a 2A state quarterfinal game as well. A LOT is on the line this game for both teams. Most expected Prestonsburg to win 3 or 4 games this season, they're now a few wins away from being a favorite to not only play in (haven't played in a quarterfinal since 2014), but host a state quarterfinal game for the first time since 2013. Again, A LOT is on the line in this matchup.
Go Blackcats!!!

Martin county may just have 1 stud with a solid group behind him but what does Pburg have other than Harris and Elliot? Both teams will keep it on the ground and just comes down to who gets tired. Pburg needs to run a hurry up offense but don’t see it happen. And Martin county needs to throw the ball. They don’t use the wv kid or stafford as much as they should

Harris & Elliott carry the load for the most part because they’re pretty darn good.
Explain to me the point in Pburg needing to run a hurry up offense outside of a 2-minute situation.

Martin Co. has a weapon on Defense. Lafferty has been a hammer for several weeks. I look for him to be fired up for this game

I think Martin County definitely has weapons, but the offense does seem to be a 1 man show at the moment. Maynard is so explosive that it's hard to not trust him to keep it rolling for them. The defense is solid, especially at LB. I think the weakness is their OL. I think Betsy Layne had a better OL and PBurg more than held their own there.
PBurg has a stable of horses in the barn, but they've got every reason to ride their 2 bellcows until further notice.
The environment should be great as Martin County travels well...especially in an old rivalry like this one.
Gimme PBurg in another thriller!

Martin County will need to eventually put in 4 quarters of work. This game will come down to which team gets a stop.

Martin County isn't as dominant up front as they have been in the past. To me, this bolds well for Prestonsburg. Once again, the Blackcats will be facing a team who relies on one guy to carry the load. Defensively, as long as Prestonsburg can maintain their "gap integrity" and not get caught out of position, I like their chances. Offensively, Martin County is going to have a hard time stopping Elliott and Harris. Both are dynamic playmakers who have added another dimension to their game and that's physicality, especially Elliott. Harris has always been hard nosed, but he seems to be running with a little more pep in his step this year, and Elliott is finishing off runs that he hasn't in recent years. I don't think Hager has showed all of his playbook up to this point, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him throw a few passes Friday night. Regardless, I look for Josh Francis Field to be packed once again with a district title on the line.

I think Hager and the Black cats will be too much for the Cards and Muncy. Even though the Cards have been solid all season the Black cats have been on a roll with a 6-0 record. Martin Co has 1 Offensive threat and Pburg has many ways of scoring and moving the ball with Elliott and Harris leading the way. Both defenses solid, the black cats will have another successful night at Josh Francis Field.

Pburg has the hype train going right now. I think it stops come Friday night. People seem to forget pburg just had 17 yards last season I and a running clock put on them by the cards and they was 2-4 going into that game. They are 4-2 this year going into this game and have played a harder schedule than pburg has. I know it's different this year but I don't think it's that big of a difference. But that's why they play the games on Friday night

Martin County graduated like 7 offensive starters off that team and Prestonsburg season ended last season when after the first loss to Betsy Layne. They laid down and quit after one drive vs Martin County and the entire team basically imploded from that point on.
Also, if you want to use this logic, then how in the world did Martin County go from beating the exact same Hazard team 20-7 last season to getting boat raced this season? Hazard and Prestonsburg are two very similar stories. Both teams had down seasons last year, it wasn't because of a lack of talent. Had a lot to do with confidence, inexperience, and lack of leadership. Both programs have new staffs and both are off to very hot starts and Hager and Chandler are getting the most out of their teams.
Martin County is very different too. Still a very tough defense, but their not great up front on either side of the ball. They're too reliant on Maynard, that's why any good team is going to take him away or limit him and force the Cardinals to find other ways to win. That's why Magoffin nearly come to Inez and won. Prestonsburg could very well lose tomorrow night. It wouldn't shock me in the least, but I like this matchup for Prestonsburg. They just have to play smart football and stick to their game plan the coaches have come up with. If they do that, I feel confident that the Blackcats will come out victorious.
Best of luck to both teams... Go Blackcats!!!

The story of the Prestonsburg Blackcats Undefeated season ends tonight against the cardinals. Won’t take anything away from Hager. He’s done a great job with that program and they’ve got a bright future. With that being said, I don’t think they have the hogs up front to be able to stop Maynard. He’s shown many times that he can still move the ball against Much better lineman and linebackers than what Pburg has. This game will also determine the winners of 2a district 7. Don’t think though Hager goes down without a fight.
