Belfry 35 Pikeville 21
#1
Final.

Bloodbath

I watched this one. This was like watching Assland play. The announcers cried every play wanting a flag throw on Belfry for something. I turned the volume down at one point so I did t have to listen to these grown men cry. On the flip side…..o was very surprised how Belfry acted on the field as time wound down. You would think that a program like Belfry’s would know how to act when they had the lead in a football game. It doesn’t get better next week for Pikeville! Good luck with Ironton

I watched this game too and if you didn’t see the blocks in the back on2 sweeps for a touchdown you need to get some glasses that isn’t orange tinted. Now did that cost Pikeville the game no it sure didn’t and in the first half Pikeville played better than last week then come the explosion just like at Raceland game they couldn’t tackle and penalty after penalty and a punt that from the 10 went to the 20 which is 10 yards and again the defensive side of the ball was terrible and the offense well I have no clue what they are doing but I guess there is some excuse someone can put out there to make them feel better but It comes down to individuals being honest on how they performed on the field and doing something about it and like RAMDAD50 said next week maybe the best team Pikeville faces this year and it’s no disgrace to lose when a player leaves all on the field but that hasn’t been the case for Pikeville this year well maybe the Corbin game but down hill from there

Come on Pat…you sounding like some of the worst Pikeville fans. Never about what the other team does ….just excuses about what they don’t do and how they give it away. Belfry was better and they win this game 7 out of ten times

Was able to watch the game on my cell. I have to agree the announcing was flat comical. Good win for Belfry. Still struggle to tackle. Not gonna argue the penalties. I will say this….engagement is key on whether the block in the back is called out on the edge.

It appears both teams escaped without injury. That’s great news on both fronts. Good luck to Pikeville moving forward.

I understand having a tough schedule to prepare you for postseason but 1-4 can’t be good for morale. Not sure how that will affect them down the road.

It won’t. They can go 0-6 and it wouldn’t hurt a thing. Everyone is saying it but it’s true. They will win another championship this year. This isn’t nowhere close to being one of t their top teams but they do t have to be cause class A is god awful and nobody else is able to step up and challenge Pikeville. That’s just the cold hard truth about it. They will take one on the chin next week then win out for another ring

Pikeville does not play Ironton next week. They play Harlan County and then Ironton.

Poor old RAMDAD50 I am from Belfry played there and graduated from there but I try to be truthful in my opinion unlike you and some others and I don’t think I said that Pikeville was better than Belfry or visa versus Belfry has their troubles too like on defense and if you would read and comprehend some things I think I pick Belfry to win this game in the thread but you are a little to quick to talk instead of reading

Even with the loss, I enjoyed seeing the Panthers play hard. It's tough to see the many mistakes made this game, but I always believe in learning experiences and Pikeville will learn from this.
Congratulations to Belfry.

Pikeville definitely has their shares of issues going on. In fact they remind me a little of Belfry’s 2019 team. A lot of talent…but injuries and uneven play slowed their growth until playoff time. Once Anthony is back 100%….Pikeville will find their stride.

Next year will be the bloodbath. Out of Pikeville’s top 10 players I’d say 8 of them are seniors. Belfry essentially returns their entire team minus a couple lineman. This was my first time watching Pikeville in person this season and it may just be me or his injury but Brendan Anthony doesn’t look like the same player from last year. Last year at Belfry he was unstoppable. Tonight he didn’t even look like one of Pikeville’s best players.

Both these teams will likely be in hunt for a state championship. Both teams played hard. Pikeville dominated first half and should have been up 2 scores. Coaching and flags cost them. That’s as nice as anyone can say it. Belfry dominated 2nd half. Special teams were a disaster for Pikeville. Looked like they never practice. Belfry killed them with the option in 2nd half on offense. They struggled to run between the tackles. The Belfry passing game was much ado about nothing. Pikeville should be passing and won’t. They did have several kids out with injury but that didn’t beat them. Pikeville may have had more penalty yardage than Belfry yards gained.

And clean up issues. Both teams have very high ceilings. Neither team will be happy with less than a championship IMHO.

Phantom holds killed every Pikeville drive that didn't result in a TD. Belfry doesn't keep Pikeville out of the end zone all night without penalties and turnovers. Seriously who was that zebra crew. I just want to know to keep tabs on them going forward.

I really think Pikeville will find their groove and be fine come playoff time.   I’m not sure Belfry’s defense is good enough to take the Pirates beyond the 2nd or 3rd round at this point.   Would love to see it…..but defense and special teams are vital for deep playoff runs.

Congrats to Belfry though. Very exciting team and reminds me of the Belfry teams of old. Rooting for them to bring back another championship and especially to get another one for Coach Haywood.

Agreed. Loved the intensity from the Panthers tonight. Look out Class A. Campbellsville is the only team that can knock them off and if Pikeville cleans up their issues it's a 4-peat.

I watched what I could of this one while I was at work. I thought Pikeville looked like the better team in the first half. I didn’t get to see much of the second half until the 4th quarter. Pikeville will be fine if they can get 100% healthy and stay healthy. I believe they’ll handle Harlan County with ease, but that next game against Ironton is gonna be a very tough game for the Panthers, against IMO, the best team on their schedule. I may be completely wrong about that. I do agree with some of the other posters about the live feed on Mountain Top Sports. That was very annoying.

Will someone please post who the officiating crew was for future reference

Sounds like Pikeville had a doppelgänger crew to the one we had in NKY tonight. Would a better crew affecting the winner of either game? Probably not, but if Pikevilles crew was as bad as ours…I feel your pain.

You didn't see it so you don't know. Highlands is 35 points better than Raceland with their JV team in half the game and RAD the white hat...

i said belfry needed to prove they could take a 3 hour bus trip and win a game. they played bad, but they did.
i said belfry needed to beat pikeville and show some pride, they did.
i said belfry needed to play a good second half and finish someone off, and they did.
i even said the gun stuff sucked, and i was wrong. it made the difference down the stretch tonight.

now i say belfry needs to win out and get better each week and prepare for a deep run. the standard is the standard. great second half after a stinker of a first half where pikeville gifted them a tie game. chase varney was excellent commanding the ship tonight.......

pikeville will be fine but anthony is not going to get any better playing hurt
#27
Yes just like we hurt Raceland's
#28
one more thing
mountain top sports SUCKS............ i can handle the pikeville broadcasters being for pikeville because i was able to just turn bobby and coach on........ but those camera cuts and on field angles were HORRIBLE all night and they missed so many plays......

can just one media company around here care to be professional and good instead of collecting ad money and half assing the broadcasts????

I don’t understand how they can keep playing Anthony right now. The kid is not at 100%…doesn’t even look 75% to me. Like I’ve said before, even hurt, he is better than ALOT of kids at 100%. But man it just seems risky, from far beyond a win/loss, title or no title. This kid has given a lot to Pikeville and continues to do so. I don’t wanna see a kid like him go down for good. I’m sure the staff knows way more about it than me…but from the outside looking in it seems like a ln accident waiting to happen.

Please Raceland and Belfry fans don't act like you know what's best for Pikeville lol
Anthony had 18 tackles vs Raceland lol
Plenty of time to rest and heal up in coming weeks
