I just don't understand the RPI. Or maybe noone understands much!!
Cal and LCA has played 3x harder teams than Rockcastle but yet they have the better RPI. Maybe It doesn't reflect on the level of competitiveness or something. Just confuses me

Teams are definitely rewarded for getting wins against weak schedules.

This part needs adjusted, don't reward teams for playing tissue paper schedules.

Exactly!!! I thought I was missin something here!! They have Belfry at 21 whenever they've played 5x harder teams than 16 of the 20 teams above them.
Then you even have Powell and estill above them!! Lmao
It'll all change here in a few weeks I believe. I hope anyway

People are mad at rock but they have a high opponent winning percentage and opponent's opponents winning percentage. These both factor in with your winning to make rpi and rocks stats are high

Beating really bad teams (bigger schools when possible) that beat even worse teams is the formula...Rock's schedule is obviously atrocious, don't think anyone disputes that lol

I'm not mad at rock bub. I'm just stating facts on why teams are higher in rpi than teams that play a harder schedule. Just don't understand it all that the only thing!! I'm sure it'll have nothing to do with the outcome of 3A

I don't like the system. But It's been that way since it started. This system is based off of who you beat and what there record is. It doesn't benefit you to lose to a good team that's the problem.

Maybe not mad,  but I can understand the sentiment. Last year no one complained that RPI ranked Bell above Rock when Rock won head to head and both were 9-1. Also, the comments about Rock's schedule being poor are quite frequent. Clay and arguably Knox Central's schedules are equally unchallenging but very few comments are made. RPI is " a system" and the one that the KHSAA chose. it's very imperfect, every year. It punishes teams for playing a challenging schedule and coming up a little short. A team that loses to the number 1 team in the state by one in overtime receives less points than a team that beats the 101st team.  Losing to good teams hurts the RPI but may prepare teams for the playoff battles which is more important to ending up in Lexington in December. BTW, it's the first week of RPI. It will somewhat sort itself out but will still not be without flaws on week 10.
