Time for a music thread - calling OSH & VH
#1
Going to get away from politics and strife-torn USA for a few days. OSH is still my music and sports buddy and VH is smarter (and happier no doubt) than both of us for staying above the fray lol...

Great tune here

"Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb" one of the best opening lines ever.

"Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb
Mother do you think they'll like this song
Mother do you think they'll try to break my balls"
One of the best opening verse lyrics ever

I accept being old now... because it means I got to be young then...

It was the best of times...

Most all politicians suck. Do they really care about us?  Do they really? I don't think so. That's just the way it is...

Gary Wright was a fine musician. He was still playing up into his late 70's. "Dreamweaver" is amazing , as well.  Hey Jet,  I am having lunch at Wendy's and the song you posted a few minutes ago by Crowded House just came on the speakers here.  Smile

Today is early March, 2024.  This has been my favorite song since its first release in December, 1975.  A very busy life has kept me away from staying informed as to Gary's health, and, it was just today that I read these comments below that told me Gary had passed away on 9/4/23.  I am devastated to learn this.  Devastated.  This performance tears at my heart.  I am so very sorry he went through so much.  He was and is a happy soundtrack to my life and "Dream Weaver" is always playing in my car and my home.  Thank you, Ted, for posting this video.

Doug Ingle -Iron Butterfly ( May 18, 2024)

Joe Egan- Stealer's Wheel ( July 6, 2024)

Richard Tandy- ELO (May 1, 2024)

Eric Carman - The Raspberries( March 11, 2024)

RIP to all guys who helped form the soundtrack of my youth. It's hard letting them go. So I won't. I'll keep playing their music.

Jet, question for you, my friend.  Was there anyone better than Eric Carmen at making power pop hit songs???  The man knew how to do melodic pop songs.

Always loved DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT. Takes me right back to the great year of 1972. Saw my first Rehounds playoff game that year( we lost 42-8 to Boyd County at Campbell Field). The coldest I had ever been in my life. lol

From the gone WAYYYY to soon department:

Randy Van Warmer(1/12/2004).Only 48 years old. One of the best tear-jerker ballads of the '70's/'80's :

Paul Davis (Apr 22, 2008). Only 60 years old.  Great singer/songwriter. Sweet, sweet song.

Nicolette Larsen (Dec 16, 1997).  Only 45 years old.

One of my biggest crushes back in the day. I would have packed up and moved across country to be with this gal. From all I've ever read, she was one of the nicest people  ever in the music business. Everyone loved working her. Neil Young wrote this and she sent it to the moon:

Laura Branigan (Aug 26, 2004).  Just 52 years old.  Brain aneurysm.

Another one of my 80's crushes. My mother(RIP) loved this singer , too .  Forever young, Laura. Thank you.

Damn I love all of those. Didn't realize the last 3 were gone. Sad, but they were great.

Dan Fogelberg(Dec 16, 2007) . Only 56 years old.

Probably my favorite balladeer from the '70's/80's. Gone way too soon. Only 57 years old. From all accounts, a wonderful man.  poet. What a voice!!! What a poet!!!
