West Carter 55 - Floyd Central 13
#1
The comets win big. Running clock in the third quarter. The wheels have completely fell off for Coach Shawn Hager and the Jaguars.
#2
More like the whole transmission has fallen out. How is Floyd Central this bad? 0-10 sounds like a real possibility.
#3
Floyd Central was basically formed from South Floyd and Allen Central combining; and competes in 2A- is this correct?
#4
Yes that is correct. The struggle is real for that program. Kind of surprises me though. Allen Central always had a ton of size but no athletes. South Floyd always had athletes but no size. Would have thought the merger would have created some at the very least, competitive teams.

Does FC have any winnable games left on their schedule?

Knott Central possibly but that looks to be about it.

I used to know some girls from Waylon and Hi Hat. They were a lot of fun. Also, remember when AC and SF were scrappy.

Seems like many on Beaver Creek were expecting Floyd Central to be a dominant school in just about all sports when they merged, but aside from volleyball, they haven't done all that much. Basketball in both sports have underachieved, though if I am not mistaken football does have a couple of playoff wins. I know South Floyd never won a playoff game, and I'm not sure how many Allen Central won. I know two schools combined but both were pretty small and with population decreases, I look for Floyd Central to be an A school soon enough.

1A in mountains might be tougher than 2A.

Pikeville, Hazard, Paintsville
V
Betsy Layne, P-burg, Shelby Valley

Of course the weaker single A teams are probably weaker than the middle of the road to bad AA teams.

I believe in the last couple years….. I would AGREE with you. Wasn’t trying to disrespect anyone just kinda making a comparison of the the classes.

I remember when Sheldon Clark under Hager beat a Breathitt team that was ranked #2 in the state.

I also got my second pick six of my career v the Cardinals. LOL

Well a lot of kids who came up in FC feeder programs end up not going to FC. A few to other counties and some to other schools in the district.I can think of more than a few right off the top of my head. That and some good athletes that decided not to play at all.. Now they are having to play freshman on varsity football, freshman who are not ready to be honest... FC has not made the best decisions regarding their athletic programs and that started from the get..
I knew copying Jacksonville's mascot would be bad luck,LMAO

Floyd Central has been riddled with injuries for what feels like 3 or 4 years now to their best players and the Jags just don't have the depth to replace the talent that's been getting injured. Jace Martin was their best football player, he breaks his collarbone at Powell County and there's no one that can step in and come close to replicating what he brings to this football team.

The Jags have a good senior class, but after that, they have 2 or 3 in the sophomore class that are varsity level players and 1 freshman that can hold his own out there at the varsity level. The rest are JV level talent at this point and need that development, but unfortunately, many of them are having to play significant varsity minutes and they're not ready (as mentioned above) and it's going to show up on the scoreboard. It's not really anyone's fault.

I feel like Shawn Hager has consistently tried multiple offenses and moved guys around to find success at Floyd Central. He's done well at Floyd Central considering, but IMO he's in a very tough situation and has been. The feeder programs are way behind most others in the area as far as development goes and when they're getting to the high school level a lot are having to play varsity football against 17, 18, and 19 year olds. That's hard on freshman and sophomores, especially if you're not winning.

Yea I agree, it seems like FC has had a stream of bad luck for close to 5 years. Whether its injuries, transfers or other issues...  I don't really blame Hager as he's in a bad situation that is almost impossible to get out of at this point..I could not believe it, during the Powell game. Three injuries with their leader and best player going down for the season.. All he can do at this point is grind on and try to develope the young players he has I think...

Is West Carter very good or is Floyd Central just that bad?
